A killer

Stefan421, 26.10.2014
It is a mystery, which many Zerrpedal manufacturers wrong with their nervzersägeten pedal boxes, the Empress Heavy in any case sounds bombastic, although it is based on pure transistor technology. The inconspicuous box is a full-fledged two-channel preamp. The sound is bold, harmonious and assertive (comparable to Engl) of saw no trace. The two channels are sound and technically absolutely identical and share bass and treble controls. Two different sounds can be selected using a foot switch, or a solo can be boosted with the same sound. From almost clean over light crunch to full high-gain board everything is in it. Three different approach frequencies can be assigned to the center control by means of toggle switches. The weight control determines whether the bass is raised narrow or broadband. Very well also the built-in two-stage noise gate. This is already a lot of luxury at regular possibilities, therefore also the hefty price.
If you want to upgrade your amp with two high-quality distortion channels, the Empress Heavy is definitely well served.

The Heavy Rock / Metal War Machine

Olivier1822, 05.05.2015
After trying bcp pedals (boss, mesa ...), I found shoe to my foot with the Empress Heavy.

His universe goes from big rock to different metal currents.

It responds to two desired configuration cases:

Either a pedal that groups a rhythmic sound in channel 1 and a lead sound in channel 2:
Indeed, both channels are on the same basis of "grain" sound (channel 2 having just more gain base) it is the volume, gain and medium adjustments that allow the shot to have a lead that comes out Of the mix. Extremely well done, the noise gate affected independently on each channel: from blow to rhythmic one goes nickel with a noise gate set to natural, very clean, and if on solo like me you boost the gain or have a pedal in pre-type tube screamer The noise gate in "aggressive" will perfectly master the situation !!

Or, a distro channel classic / big rock and a channel realm of metal!
Even if the basic sound is off level of gain gain the same with all the settings at noon, one gets easily with equalization, switch on mediums and also the "weight" a very big sound, big metal type - Heavy / Trash / extreme 7-8 strings- everything can go through. The weight really helps to have Palm mute very sharp, sharp.

A channel 1 set to gain at noon is more than enough to type Heavy rock classics, and remains fairly transparent on the sound of the guitar (strato sonone strato!)

Tested on marshall and even on a fender hotrod deluxe (an amp that accepts all pedals and has a huge reserve of bass), it sounds very loud.
The price remains high, but when you have 2 distortion pedals, or 1 distortion + 1 boost, + a noise gate, in the end it is worth it without worry, in addition to the quality of manufacture and especially saving place on the Pedal Board.

In my opinion a future reference pedal distortion Heavy rock-Heavy Metal!
