A killer growl!
Chaotic 08.10.2026
As a long-time fan of Dean guitars and Dimebag Darrell models, I had been eyeing this guitar for a very long time before finally buying it.
The overall build quality of this Indonesian model is top-notch. Compared to the older Indian Dean MLs, this is a completely different league. It sounds significantly better—it growls way more, has much longer sustain, and offers "more of everything" in the tone. The weight is also great; it is lighter than other MLs but still feels solid and just right.
I bought this guitar specifically to upgrade it, so I did a few modifications right away:
Swapped the bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker.
Replaced the stock Floyd Rose with a Schaller Lockmeister 6 (the original wasn't bad, but the Schaller is next level).
Replaced the cheap, tiny factory potentiometers with high-quality CTS pots and completely upgraded the electronics.
The factory electronics were definitely the weakest link—the small pots felt cheap and the jack output was failing right out of the box. Since I planned a full upgrade anyway, it didn't bother me. However, if you want a perfect guitar straight from the factory without any tech work, this could be a real issue.
Overall, it is a fantastic instrument with premium wood and construction. With a few electronics and hardware upgrades, it becomes an absolute beast!
