The Bose Professional EdgeMax EM180 is an indoor ceiling speaker designed for easy installation in any room, featuring high-frequency compression drivers and PhaseGuide technology for wide, room-filling sound dispersion. With a nominal horizontal dispersion angle of 180°, the speaker can be installed close to walls, allowing for an effective layout with fewer speaker units. Its robust construction, combining a plastic front baffle with a sheet steel housing, ensures durability in a wide range of permanent installations, from retail spaces to conference rooms.
The Bose Professional EdgeMax EM180 features two drivers: an 8" woofer that supports boundary loading near walls for powerful bass, and a high-frequency compression driver that delivers superior audio quality compared to dome tweeters. It reproduces frequencies from 45Hz to 20kHz with a sensitivity of 96dB SPL and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms when the transformer is bridged. PhaseGuide technology creates an asymmetrical pattern when the speaker is mounted on a ceiling near a wall, resulting in wide, room-filling dispersion with exact angles of 75° vertically and 180° horizontally, and the speaker can handle up to 125W RMS and 500W peak, making it a versatile solution for permanent installations.
The Bose Professional EdgeMax EM180 is ideal for permanent installation in retail stores, restaurants, bars, and shopping malls, providing excellent sound reinforcement for background music to create a welcoming atmosphere. It's equally effective in conference settings too, delivering room-filling sound with outstanding speech intelligibility. Installation is quick and easy thanks to the spring-loaded mounting arms – and because the speakers are installed off-centre, the appearance of the ceiling remains balanced and aesthetically appealing, with plenty of space for lighting without causing unwanted sonic reflections. For 70V or 100V audio systems, the EM180 features a 2-way passive crossover, ensuring seamless integration into a variety of sound setups.
Bose Professional was established as an independent entity following its separation in 2023 from the Bose Corporation, a company best known for its consumer products. Today, Bose Professional is dedicated to developing sound systems that are straightforward in design, installation, and operation, serving live performance venues as well as commercial and conference environments. From workplaces and places of worship to universities, restaurants, retail stores, hotels, and event spaces of all kinds, Bose Pro systems are deployed across the globe. Decades of expertise have resulted not only in numerous innovations but, above all, in immensely practical and adaptable solutions.
The Bose Professional EdgeMax EM180 is mounted where the ceiling meets the wall, and installation is straightforward: First, the four rails are attached to the centre frame using the supplied screws, with the correct mounting points indicated by labels A and B. The rails can be adjusted to rest securely on the ceiling grid or panelling, accommodating spacings from 56 to 66cm. For a seamless look, the micro-perforated, powder-coated steel grille can be easily removed (it's magnetically attached) and painted to match the decor, after it's been cleaned with a cloth.
