Compact, smart, and versatile

Blackstar presents the BEAM Mini, a compact desktop amp that combines multiple functions in a single unit. The two 2" speakers not only deliver clear sound for practice but also allow the BEAM to work seamlessly as a Bluetooth speaker, with inputs tailored for electric guitars, acoustic guitars, and basses. A sophisticated modelling engine, paired with CabRig technology, puts an extensive selection of cabinet and microphone options at the player's fingertips, while control takes place directly on the device or via the Beam app, unlocking a comprehensive set of features. The built-in battery ensures full portability, while headset microphone support enables simultaneous playback or recording of both voice and instrument. With 24 watts of power, BEAM Mini fits easily into any space, making it suitable for practice, jam sessions, home recordings, or simply enjoying music.

Blackstar BEAM Mini amplifier with handle

Just plug and play!

The Blackstar BEAM Mini offers intuitive out-of-the-box operation, with the top panel featuring essential controls for patch selection, gain, EQ, effects, and volume, plus a SpeedDial for quick sound adjustments. Five preset patches are available for direct selection, while further exploration becomes possible through the dedicated app for iOS and Android, which provides detailed options for amp models, cab simulations, effects, and patch management. The amp's two 2" speakers deliver stereo sound, with passive bass radiators that add depth, and the device also works as a USB-C audio interface, making recording easy. Users can play back their favourite tracks via Bluetooth, and the headphone output makes it possible to practice in silence without interruptions (and without bothering anyone else).

Cool sounds at all times

The Blackstar BEAM Mini excels where space is at a premium and quick results matter, while also offering a practical, uncomplicated option for home practice, testing new songs, or capturing musical ideas. The straightforward control layout encourages quick adaptation, delivers usable tones with minimal setup, and will appeal to newcomers. At the same time, the BEAM Mini is ideal for seasoned musicians who want a compact second amp for a desk or a flexible travel companion that will still deliver impressive tonal versatility. The amp's compatibility with electric, acoustic, and bass guitars means that it will suit players exploring different instruments, and while not designed for rehearsal spaces or stage performance, it will shine in situations where ease of use and immediate accessibility are paramount.

About Blackstar

The company Blackstar Amplification Ltd. was founded in 2004 by four band members from Northampton (UK) and has since remained a modestly sized and family-run manufacturer of guitar amplifiers and employs just over twenty people. Blackstar prides itself in the fact that the employees are active musicians themselves and therefore de facto have a close relationship with their products. Their intimacy and knowledge of the live music scene becomes clear when you take a look at Blackstar's homepage. In addition to the expected detailed information on their products, Blackstar’s website also includes numerous free tutorial videos that teach various guitar styles and tricks.

For spontaneous sessions anytime, anywhere

The Blackstar BEAM Mini will fit effortlessly into a variety of settings - on a desk, in the living room, in a home studio, or outdoors. Instruments can be connected and patches selected with ease, then the BEAM Mini is ready to make music. The companion app expands functionality by opening the door to the open-source NAM library, which offers a broad array of sounds, and streams backing tracks directly from a smartphone via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for additional equipment. Recording remains straightforward, as the device operates as a USB-C audio interface so the musical ideas can instantly be captured on computer. Pairing with a laptop or tablet creates a streamlined setup with minimal cabling, and the stereo output lets the BEAM Mini serve as a capable compact speaker for playback. Compact dimensions, battery power, and IP66 weather protection further highlight its suitability for outdoor use.

This thing is crazy

I own many tube amps that make me very happy.... but this is what I play 80% of my time. It sounds amazing, big, tubey (depending on the amp model of course) and can be played at the lowest of volumes without waking up my kids.
It also travels with my in my guitar bag without issue so I litterally have it at all time, working on battery.

This is truly next level and I can't imagine going back to anything else.

Just Amazing!

This little box is just full of magic! Be prepared to lose track of time because you just get immersed in what this small black box can do!!!! I use this all the time now, in fact I use it more than my HiWatt Head/Laney Cab set up. I do find the lack of a display on the amp a bit of a pain as the app can be a bit tricky/temperamental as well as confusing but that may be more of a 'me' problem. But that said the tech involved in this and the sheer range of sounds and amp models you can tap into is mind blowing. I'm still trying to get to grips with Moises. As I thought this was being made available as an add on within the Beam app like Tone 3000 access, but I have had to download this as a separate standalone app. That said this is perfect as a practice amp or for use as some sort of midi set up.....but I'm old school or just old so I avoid all that. It's worth every penny.

Too many features, yet important ones still missing
MarekSi 23.10.2026
Since I had a chance to have both JBL Bandbox Go and this amp I decided to make a little comparison There's so much hype around Blackstar that I was sure it would wipe the floor with JBL.

Video comparison: search YT for D6ZHU_EM2q0

But this is my honest opinion, based on MY use cases:
- I needed a small grab and go practice amp
- convenience and portability were #1 priority over features
- I have a lot of gear, so I did not need another jack of all trades
- easy of use, not needing to open an app every time I want to change the tone, instant gratification - these were the qualities I was looking for.

Blackstar - it can sound better, but you need to spend some time with it. For me there are too many sounds for what the tool is made for (or how I'll be using it). No display makes reliance on the app a must. Steam separation is a joke: you need another app and an USB cable (!!!!!) to connect your phone to the amp - really Blackstar?
Wide stereo - well, maybe you can hear some "dimension", but honestly I hoped it would be much much more audible, and it is not.
What I heard in the room was maybe ever so slightly (marginally) more 3D than JBL. The app: of course as you have more options it is more convoluted, but somehow the important features are still missing or not working: EQ for music playback - not present, ability to adjust volumes of music vs guitar - not possible (you have to edit every patch volume individually), metronome - does not work (no sound), backing tracks - they're just embedded YouTube videos.

JBL - smaller and lighter, an actual display is so helpful. Limited amps and effects actually make it easier to dial in an OK sound for practice purposes on the go, or on the coach while watching a movie.
Steam separation - works ON THE UNIT!
Cons: battery life vs Blackstar, much worse as an USB audio interface (for me not a big con though), much less options and sounds (again, for me it's a pro). Sound quality: yes, objectively Blackstar sounds better (or can sound better if you spend time tweaking it), but it matters only if it's your primary amp, interface and studio gear. If you're like me, it's your 4th, 5th or 6th amp (and counting) and you want a simple, no fuss solution for low volume practice, in hotels, on the go or in a similar context.

So called user experience, as far as I'm concerned, is MUCH better with JBL.

In a nutshell:
- if you are a beginner, and you can have only one amp (do-it-all) - grab a Blackstar. But if you want a simple, reliable, grab and go solution, easier to use, with better interface, better user experience that still sounds good for what it is - go with JBL.

N
Awesome little amp—and it looks fantastic
Nerg 22.09.2026
Sounds great for its size, and I absolutely love the design—it looks incredible on my desk! My favorite features are the OTG USB recording (love that you can capture vocals with a mic and guitar simultaneously) and the huge cloud patch library. The companion app can feel a bit sluggish occasionally, but it doesn't take away from how useful this amp is. Highly recommended!
