Spreads and drives

14.03.2015
I have had the old model CP-21 for over 20 years and I still love them. They do deliver!
The only things you need to be careful about is to overload them and and that can be prevented with an active component like the Monacor filter - the other is that you might destroy the hearing of your crowd. These small and compact tweeters deliver a very distinct sound.
I use them with a 12" fullrange both outside and inside. The sound is clear and works for disco as well as for PA at smaller public gatherings.
The original they are a copy of are very capable but the cost a lot more and I for one feel prefectly fine using Beyma :)

CP 21 against CP 22

27.04.2015
I have already the CP22 in use (40x40 ° manufacturer's specification) for some years and I hoped that the CP 21 (40x140 °) the H radiation is at least twice as big and I thus a lower high-frequency waste on angles ... with hoped Constant 40 ° V.

Unfortunately, it is to be observed that the V radiation is far below the 40 ° of the CP 22 and that the H radiation is only slightly wider than the CP 22. (4m distance) At 0 ° the frequency response of the CP 22 is also slightly larger than that of the CP 21. The CP 22 plays at 0 ° H? V at minus 3db by 500HZ higher than the CP 21.

This sound guidance of the CP 21 does not seem to work quite as expected by the manufacturer? At least the 140 ° H can not be reached if at all 60 ° -90 °, as far as the CP 22, indicated at 40 ° H, is taken as a reference.

The CP 21 is at 30 ° H, at 6-10 Khz 2db louder than the CP 22 at 30 ° H. Oder Anders, at 30 ° H, the level drop of the CP 21 is about half as great as the CP 22. I would have But expected from the CP 21, which at 30 ° would not be a large Messberger Pegelafall since 140 ° H? The range 4-6 Khz 30 ° H, is even lower by 2 db than with the CP 22. (All measurements 4m)

Since it does not provide the desired improvement for my purposes, I have returned the two CP 21 and stay with the CP 22. As a mid-range driver a larger CD horn (90x60 °)

In general, one should also say that the CP 21 and 22 cover roughly the same range of frequencies but still raises to 0 ° HV of the CP 22 still 500HZ.

CP 22 and 21 are not super-high-frequency tweeters. Starting from 10Khz begins a strong fall. The -6db point of the CP 22 is at 12 Khz, as well as 11.40 Khz at the CP 21. The -12 db point is at 14.5 Khz Cp 22 and 14 Khz CP 21. However, since this is "PA, , And no HIFI components, there is no deduction.

Processing:
On the whole as always very solid and generally clean. However, I miss a little care in protecting the surfaces. Here and there in the roughened aluminum surface small scratches which could certainly be avoided during production. There are also some different colored metal surfaces (probably by clamping them in a machine or similar) on the "visible" sides. My old CP 22 did not.

Remark: an ornamental ring has fallen loose from my packaging. In this case you should work on the glue.
