Behringer FBQ 2496 Feedback Dest B-Stock

B-Stock with full warrantyThe FBQ2496 is the fastest (> 0.2 sec.) And the only 96 kHz feedback suppressor on the market. With its ultra-fast and intelligent feedback detection algorithm, it is capable of automatically locating up to 20 feedback frequencies per channel and suppressing them with extremely narrow notch filters, while the useful signal is virtually unaffected.

The "Set-and-Forget" and panic buttons ensure a super-simple and instant feedback suppression. In Auto mode, the mix is continuously monitored and filter settings adjusted automatically, while in manual mode, up to 40 fully parametric filters can be set, adjustable in frequency, bandwidth and boost / cut. An open MIDI architecture allows future software updates and flexible communication with digital equipment. With the different operating modes, you are able to react flexibly to different situations within the scope of the live application - but the FBQ2496 also offers a creative sound shaping tool in the studio.

Reliable and comfortable

StefanM, 12.10.2009
I got the feedbackdestroyer because I'm traveling with many headset microphones, which are incredibly feedback-prone and I do not always have a man sitting on the mixer.

The feedbackdestroyer works with two channels or stereo, usually I simply run the compliant monitor signal through the feedback destroyer. As soon as a signal is present, you can use the LEDs to monitor the input level, which is present at the feedback destroyer (it is important to note that an overdrive sounds terrible!).

When a signal is present, the display shows "run", which means that the signal is monitored all the time and, if necessary, a narrow band filter is set for the frequency that feeds back. You can say to the feedback-destroyer with the "Voice" switch that it is only about singing - then it is more generous with the filters. If "Voice" is not activated, then it is somewhat more careful, so that no wanted feedback from electric guitars is filtered out. In practice, the device works quite well - in the case of a feedback you hear a short whistle, but then disappears very quickly.

It is especially nice to have the feedback tuner automatically search for frequencies that are subject to feedback due to the fact that it gives different sounds in a short time in order to provoke feedback. If one is created, then a filter is included.

Up to 20 filters can be set per channel. (It shows in each case how many filters it has already set) Correctly applied, the useful signal is not affected. And if you have the microphones and the monitors halfway reasonably placed, then the 20 filters are enough synonymous.

For emergencies, there is still the panic button. Then the device cares particularly quickly to remedy. Only if you put it on it and put the micro directly in front of the speakers, then the feedback Destroyer can do nothing more.

But as an aid he is very useful and works reliably all around. I always let him search for dangerous frequencies automatically at the beginning of the monitor signal (the above-mentioned function: press the Learn button a bit longer), so that he can set a few filters. Usually the problem feedback is clarified and I can take care of other things ...

Useful part with some 'lean' manual

Shaun511, 29.01.2012
The first device was unfortunately defective and was replaced by Thomann fast. So second device equal in sum Monitor looped in and AUTOLEARN started. The 15-sec run went through, but no automatic filters were set ?? So the instruction manual: the sum of all set filters (automatic, single shot and parametric) is always a maximum of 20 per channel !! So for all, which may have a similar problem: Reset long press to delete ALL automatically set filters and the possibly set single shot filter. Then press the PEQ key and press RESET long - all parametric filters are also deleted. Now you have a maximum of 20 free slots for the automatic filters per channel !!
Otherwise, the device works as it should. The 'whistling' of the system is most effective. Press the LEARN button for more than 1 sec. - it starts automatically for approx. 15 sec., But it is not always possible - be careful with the level otherwise your ears are flying away ;-) ... In operation, the device regulates quickly and Effectively changed situations after, of course, a feedback must first arise. FILTERLIFT controls how long an auto-set filter may be inactive before its values ??are reset; Ie if you plant the system long before the gig, the controller should be set to OFF, otherwise all automatic filters are deleted again when it starts ;-) However, no longer synonymous unneeded automatic filters are released. So experiment with the maximum possible loudness.

Conclusion: with the FBQ are quite higher levels possible and it has something calming, if you do not have to go to the mixing console, if it times times couples ... I for my part will keep the FBQ in any case, but me next Feedback-resistant micro: Sennheiser E935 ...
