There isprobably not a guitar in the world that has been played by as many people as the Fender Stratocaster. And hardly any other guitars allow for such hardware flexibility and DIY as the Strat, so it should come as no surprise that Fender offers a huge range of different pickups.

The Fender Tex Mex is produced in Mexico and the set of three is extremely inexpensive. The name alone reminds us of the Texas Special, and its sound goes in a similar direction, too - a vintage Strat sound - but comes out with more power and more output than the original. It can be heard in the Jimmie Vaughan Tex Mex Strat - among others!

Nice Strat pick-ups set !

These pick-ups for Strat sounds very nice and clear , they are a great choice. I mounted them on my Suhr Strat guitar , because I wanted to have the original Fender sound, but...when testing I had a bad surprise...the middle pick-up had no sound at all. I removed it and measured the resistance with an multimeter and I saw it was interrupted. Looking carefully , the end of the north pole of the wire was not soldered at all at the contact pin and I decided to solder it myself instead of send them back and wait for another set that could take more than 1 month waiting time. I was lucky that the problem was easy to fix for me, but for other people it may be a big problem, having no other option but send them back and wait for another set. The end of the wires from the coils are not covered with resin , that may lead to very easy breaking when handling on montage process. Also the thin wire of the coil is not covered with any protection tape ,that could lead to an irreversible total damage to the coil. The only protection is the white plastic cover that is not glued also and it moves when touching with fingers. They are very fragile and must take maximum care when put them on. But the sound is great and very rich !

Great sounding pups

I bought set of these for my mex tele. They are an excellent upgrade for ur Strat or any 3 single coil guitar. They sound a lot like Texas specials . They come in a lot of fender strats and even teles. The roadwork Strat I had used these. Very good highs and mids, good bottom end also. Pickups are very subjective, we all have our favorites . Some like these, some don’t. You can’t go wrong with Tex mex pups.
The mex standard pickups are ok, too muddy for my liking, these are a significant upgrade in quality. The price is good also.

I'm not a super expert when it comes to strat sounds but I own and I have played a few and I have to say I love the sound of this set. I tend to prefer thicker/warmer strat type of sound and this set delivers exactly the sound I prefer, very bluesy and nice for many other things too. Thomann offered a great price for this set at the time I bought it.

Good alternative for Texas Specials

If you don't have the money for Texas Specials, but you want that kind of bluesy sound, this is a good choice for you. Lower output, thus a bit cleaner, but enough power to play blues. Cheap, delivers the sound, what else do you need?
