Suhr Riot Mini

All those thick, creamy, meaty, juicy high-gain rock tones, modern AND vintage are right here. I really think this deserves to be in a the "Marshall-in-a-box" category, especially when the voicing switch is in the "vintage" position. This pedal can evern go toe-to-toe with the Xotic SL Drive - they have slightly different mid-range structures, and the Riot has more bass but never gets flubby at high gain like the SL Drive does.

I am particularly impressed at three things: 1) Even at quite high gain settings, the sound and character of your pickup selections still come through well, and, 2) it sounds unusually awesome when rolling back the guitar volume, 3) does an "almost clean" volume boost in addition to "holy crap that's a lot of distortion" distortion.

Drawbacks - With as much distortion as this pedal delivers (a lot!) comes more noise. Not really a fault, that goes with the territory past 2 o'clock on the dial (which is already more gained up than I need to be fair). And mini pedals have mini knobs which are fiddly.

Other than that, if you think you need one, you probably do.

I had been looking for a small pedal for my small pedalboard, since I move around and do not like to carry a lot of weight, and after several reviews I reached the conclusion that the Riot was my choice.

Suhr is not known to be the most inexpensive brand but quality is as far as I experienced ensured.

No special pros/cons; I simply checked some Internet reviews through video and preferred this product.

Ich wollte eine weitere Zerroption im mini Format, so habe ich mich durch die guten Bewertungen überzeugen lassen und das Riot mini bestellt.

Als Referenz habe ich mein Friedman dirty Shirley Pedal dem Riot gegenübergestellt (preislich kosten beide ja mittlerweile das Gleiche).

Das Friedman Pedal gibt den Amp sound authentischer und transparenter wieder als das Suhr riot und ist mit seiner vollumfänglichen EQ Möglichkeit auch weitaus anpassungsfähiger.

ABER: das Riot mini verzerrt sehr cremig und "fettet" den sound etwas an, was in allen gain Einstellungen sehr schöne, weiche bis singende Lead sounds liefert.
Auch verzerrte Rythmusgitarren klingen sehr gut.
Single coil wie Humbucker Sounds gibt das Pedal dabei authentisch und detailiert wieder.

Gerade wer seinem Amp einen etwas anderen Character verleihen möchte hat mit dem Suhr riot Möglichkeiten. Ein weiteres plus ist natürlich das platzsparende Format.

Ich bin Hobby-Gitarrist und nutze mein Equipment zumeist zuhause. Verzerrer und Overdrives habe ich Dutzende. Von den Distortions sind zwei meine Absoluten Favoriten: Der JHS Angry Charlie 3 und mit kleinem Abstand der Suhr Riot Reloaded. Der Suhr Riot Mini ist klasse und rd. 80 Euro günstiger als der normale Suhr Riot. Der Sound und die Möglichkeiten sind fast identisch. Der Voice-Schalter hat 3 und beim Mini nur 2 Positionen. Es sind aber die, die ich auch mag. Gegenüber dem Reloaded ist der Klang etwas offener. Der Reloaded hat auch deutlich mehr Zerre parat. Vor meinem einkanaligen Mesa Boogie Subway Blues macht der Riot Mini insgesamt eine sehr gute Figur. Distortions sind immer Geschmackssache und es hängt starkt von Amp und Gitarre ab, wie er rüberkommt. Für mich ist der Riot Mini super! Der Preis stimmt, die Größe ist praktisch und im Deep- Purple-Gehäuse sieht er schick aus. Alles top!
