GAP Check for Trumpet

  • Measures the distance from the end of the mouthpiece to the beginning of the mouth pipe (GAP)
  • Developed by Ken Titmus
  • The GAP measurement allows an estimate of which mouthpiece fits on a trumpet
  • Too large of a GAP makes the lower register seem stuffy and the upper register may reach a "wall"
  • Too small of a GAP leaves the lower register too open and leads to poor definition of notes above C```
  • Missing resistance causes the upper register to become airy or washed out
  • Available since October 2011
  • Item number 270392
