Very good microphone for the price
Anonymous 13.12.2016
I have been using three of these mounted on my accordion for about six years and they are still going strong. They have taken a lot of abuse over the years rolling around in the bottom of my accordion case. The packpack box is very sturdy, almost a little unnecessarily heavy though!
To the best of my knowledge the sound quality is very good and I haven't had too much problems with feedback.
The lead to the microphone capsule on one of my units needed top be resoldered after a few years but as I said, they were getting a lot of abuse.
The backpack has a mute switch which is very useful and doesn't pop when switched on. The battery life when not using phantom power is also extremely good. I usually use phantom power but I found that the batteries don't discharge if they're left in all the time so there was always battery power available for the gigs where I needed them.
If I had one criticism it would be that the battery covers are prone to breaking and then they won't stay on properly. They can be taped on but that's annoying if you need to change the battery in a hurry. This is only a cosmetic thing though as the batteries stay in perfectly well without the cover!

Value for money and robust.
Ruari Wilson 04.12.2021
A budget clip on microphone that gives a good response to the trumpet sound. Savings have been made in the finishing quality, for example, the steel belt bracket has sharp edges (I used steel wool to remove them) and the XLR input requires some force to connect. Make sure to take a spare battery. Overall, it's a workhorse piece of kit that does the business.

Superlux PRA-383D?

Does what it says on the tin! Good bit of kit with big volume and nice tone. Uses mini xlr and is compatible with AKG systems or the t.bone wireless set ups. Only thing missing is an LED to remind you that it's on and I can't work out why the on off button has two on positions as the instructions are in Klingon! and very brief. It has no additional volume control but it's set to give maximum gain/output and the single battery seems to last for ages! The power pack is of heavy metal construction but it's not too heavy to stick in your pocket although it does have a clip. Tough bit of kit and practically bullet proo! I'm actually using the microphone with my tbone wireless transmitter pack because this mic has more power than my AKG bug mic. You can also simply add a mini XLR to 6.3mm Jack to the power pack and DI guitars etc. So, it might be low on features but it packs a big punch.

DabaolinDrums 14.05.2021
I use this for flute live performance.

pros
1. Inexpensive
2. Easy to use

cons
1.Clip no as large as I think
2.Sound are not good as DPA, but the price is only 1/5 by DPA.

In this price range, it's good enough also very convenient.

J
Nice mic for a beginner like me
Jozik 28.08.2021
The mic gives a strong signal when clipped on my tenor sax. No complaints on sound quality. The foam looks rather cheap and doesn't fit very nice, but it does the job. The clip is rather weak and can't be locked, so the mic falls of easily when something or someone stumbles against it. Funny thing is that without a battery in the power module it gives the same signal as with one. Maybe it feeds on the phantom power of the audio interface. Overall very satisfied with thsi mic

H
Bodypack is heavy
Harry- 01.09.2022
This bodypack works with battery or with +48V. Most sound systems today provide phantom power, so I find battery feature unnecessary. There is separate phantom adapter avaliable, but according to user manual diagrams, they don't work with the microphones.
If you use one microphone and there might not be phantom power option, then I recommend it. I play accordion and do not want to strap 4 of them onto my back.

VM
Brilliant, no frills microphone for a saxophone.
Vassilios M. 04.04.2015
I was a bit reluctant, as the brand is relatively unknown, but decided to go for it due to the good reviews. The goose neck stays firm in place and the clip is secure on the rim of the sax's bell. The power module is quite heavy, so it's good having the belt clip, but wouldn't attach it to the sax in any case. Both adapter plug inputs on the module are very snug and it takes some effort to plug/unplug, but not really a problem.

The module connects directly to a console via an XLR cable and the sound is awesome at both scales. The only problem is that there is no led on the power module to indicate that the mic is on. In general, I am very satisfied from the quick delivery (thanks Thomann), the quality and the performance (despite the lack of the led). It's a full package, as long as you don't want to go fully cable-free, and at this price you also get phantom power, which is a huge bonus. I hope it lasts long.

Secret weapon
SASS 28.02.2019
We have several of these and love them. They're great on strings and I know of at least one company who uses them for large orchestral concerts, in fact they told me about them! Not DPA quality but not their prices either.

Pros: Work great on a variety of instruments. Easy clip-on. Solid build.

Cons: A bit bulky with the box.

PeteDC 19.08.2019
I used it live for the first time with my tenor sax.. sounded excellent Far better than using a Shure SM57/58. Good for gigs. I used it wired XLR cable from the belt pack to the the mixing desk.

A
For Flygelhorn
Anonymous 14.11.2014
Really great little packadge. Everything a beguinner needs without spending a fortune on a microphone. I use it on my trumpets, Flygel and normal B trumpet. Surpricing good quality. Worried about bending the metal whire back after each gig so I do NOT to straighten it out. Fits perfectly in the case it comes with even if it is bent and ready to go on the next gig. Clip is ok but transferres valvesounds in to the microphone. Not really such a big deal when you play in a big band. I would not recommend it for single instrument recordings however because of that valve sound. I gave it 5 stars because price, qality for the money and the robust phantom box.
