Just what the doctor ordered

Just awesome.
Used it on a cheap P-BASS and there it was, the sound i've been looking for my whole life.
Oh and they are versatile.
I actually found them even more versatile than the clingy dreadful roundwound strings that are dead and of no use after 2 months of serious swetty playing.
La Bella lasted for over a year of professional concert, live streaming and studio gigs.
I'll never go back.

M
Nice (albeit expensive) flatwounds
Martin6712 22.10.2014
In my hunt for the perfect flatwound I've tried these La Bella's, Fender 9050s and D'Addario Chromes.

Overall there's not much to choose between the three - the biggest change is the jump from roundwound to flatwound (where I have a strong preference for the smooth, effortless slides flatwounds offer). The La Bella's are noticeably "stiffer" in that there's less tendency for them to dip between the frets (I guess this is some combination of requiring higher tension and perhaps the string construction just being a bit more rigid).

On balance I suspect I'll stick with the D'Addario Chromes in the long-run - tonally I've a slight preference for them (and they're also a bit cheaper)! But the La Bella's are a very close second.

The go to for P Bass
Tomate P 03.01.2019
This are the only strings my vintage Fender P bass has seen in the last six years and it'll stay that way. It's a perfect match. The sound is punchy yet velvety and rich. No sustain whatsoever, which is great to fit perfectly in the mix!
No need to replace them, in fact the older they get the better they sound. It takes a few weeks to break them in, but after that you'll love them!

Too high tension
Martsie 23.07.2022
Be aware that the tension is super high which makes playing really hard. I experience these strings feel sticky, I would recommend the sound, but not playability, I would like to try to .103 strings…

Edit: after a while I can say I got used to these. Tension still quite high, but it plays super slick!

My Very First Set of Flats
Anonymous 08.07.2015
Having played a musicman sub for the last 7 years I finally bought my first Fender P bass and being a fan of Jamerson I knew I had to go with flats.

I asked a few friends for recommendations and La Bella seemed to be the most recommended.

I have to say I am absolutely delighted with these strings. They're a little brighter than I expected them to be but you wouldn't notice that once the tone is rolled off. With the tone rolled off they have that classic thump however with the tone up full they actually sound great for slap.

All in all I would highly recommend these strings and it's safe to say I won't be using any other brand of flats.

Smooth slinky and sound
Bob Breeks 18.02.2022
The only string to put on your bass if you want to sound smooth and slinky.
Touching these is a tactile delight, impossible to not sound funky, impossible to not look more handsome, impossible to not sound more attractive to the opposite sex. All for £50. Amazing

First set of flatwounds, play dubby stuff, easier to get tone I want compared to the round wounds I was playing obviously. Happy with these.

Quality thump
L_Bo 14.12.2022
I just replaced an old set of these that were on my P-Bass for years. They still sounded great and stayed in tune, I just felt it was time to put on a new set. They're a little bright when they're new but it doesn't take long for them to settle into that flat wound sound you know and love. The quality of these strings is very high. They sound excellent, feel completely smooth and give you that thump. They are a bit on the expensive side, but you do pay for quality.

oh well
ProgBass 06.08.2011
The price is really high and you think about: should I buy them or not? As they are really recommended and often played I bought some.
When you take the strings out of the package you see immediately how smooth they are and there will be no dirt when you slide over the strings.
Well done for this first step. Strung onto the bass, plugged the bass into the amp, what will happen next? The E string sounds dead already and the g strings sounds like you play a Sitar. The effect of the E string seems to be normal as LaBella told me, the effect of the g string is a mistake and LaBella sent a new string. Hmm, great service by LaBella, but not satisfying when you buy a new product of this price.

Wish I knew earlier
Tom Brook 10.05.2021
These strings are amazing. I got these to get closer to the Motown 'plonk' sound; a warm but not too resonant bass sound, perfect to assist drums. The La Bella's deliver the job. I feel the sound is like the real thing (combined with a P bass) In one word: amazing.
