Forget it's there and enjoy the tone
It replaces the speaker in my Behringer HA 40; generic speakers made with basic materials tend to sound somewhat dry and somewhat raw. But the 12" Jensen fits the amp cabinet made for a 10" frame, so I simply cut a larger opening. Second, I have a new Harley Benton R456 with pickups that give out a lot of heavy warm bass.
So it was natural to fit a loudspeaker with more bass thanks to the larger size. Simply using a pick a little thinner than usual balances the tone at the source, and the Jensen renders it with such a linear output, you just play and forget worrying about the tone. It's pretty and powerful. It's warm and the distortion's harmonics are ideal.
The built is excellent. The thing is two kilos heavier than the stock unit but only a large magnet with the moderate magnetic flux of ferrite can give a warm cozy tone, neodymium in large sizes makes the tone brittle.
So five stars overall.
