Precise stereo delay
The Erica Synths Echolocator is a unique stereo delay powered by an advanced algorithm developed by the Dutch company 112dB. Twelve individually adjustable onboard parameters distributed across three distinct operating modes (delay, filter, and shimmer) form the core of the Echolocator's powerful sound design capabilities. All of the settings can be saved as presets, allowing users to instantly load different effects for dynamic and versatile performances. Presets can also be seamlessly uploaded and backed up to a computer, and management is a breeze thanks to the USB-B port located on the rear panel. The Echolocator also supports flexible integration with external equipment via MIDI. Designed with performers in mind, it lets artists intuitively navigate their sound – like a bat in the dark – while precisely shaping the character and timing of their delay effects.

Flexibility with 12 parameters
At the centre of the Echolocator is its largest control, which adjusts the delay time from 4 milliseconds to 4 seconds. To its left, the "Orbit" knob introduces jitter for high-frequency modulation, and further left still, the input gain can be boosted by up to 24dB. Below these controls, the "Freeze" button locks the audio buffer at the current delay time. Just beneath it, the filter section allows adjustment of both the cutoff frequency and resonance (Q). An integrated LFO modulates the delay time, with speeds ranging from 0 (no modulation) to 2Hz, and the depth control allows the user to set the modulation intensity. Additionally, the "Reverb" control blends between pure delay and reverb. The "Tap Tempo" button in turn provides manual tempo synchronisation for the delay time.

Intuitive preset selection
The Erica Synths Echolocator's "Feedback" control adjusts the number of delay reflections, while "Ping Pong" pans the input signal across the stereo field. The currently selected preset and parameter settings are displayed in the centre. Presets can be selected, saved, and modified using the "Data" control, and the "Back" button allows for easy navigation by stepping back through the menu. To the right, a master volume knob controls the output level, which is routed via two balanced jack outputs. An adjacent footswitch input enables bypass, freeze, or preset scrolling functions, in addition to which MIDI connectivity is provided via the MIDI In and MIDI Thru ports.

The Erica Synths Echolocator is a versatile stereo delay that adds depth and character to any performance, from electronic music to guitar setups. Mono and stereo sources can be easily connected via the rear-panel inputs. With 12 adjustable parameters, the Echolocator offers precise control over every detail of the effect, enabling highly nuanced sound design. Forty onboard presets – including 18 created by acclaimed composer and sound designer Eraldo Bernocchi – provide instant access to a wide range of delay textures, and the rear-panel MIDI In and MIDI Thru connections ensure smooth integration with external hardware, making the Echolocator a flexible tool for both studio and live use.

About Erica Synths
Founded in Riga in 2014 by Girts Ozolins, Erica Synths has quickly made a name for itself as a major player in the modular sector. Thanks to its close cooperation with musicians from the EDM scene, the company's modules and devices stand out for their musicality as well as their ease of use. The manufacturer markets several series of Eurorack modules, each tailored to different applications. The Fusion series is based on tube circuits; the Pico series consists of space-saving 3-TE modules; the Black series combines high-quality analogue and digital modules; whilst the Drum series can be assembled into a modular drum machine. At the same time, the range of performance-oriented stand-alone effect units and synthesizers is gradually being expanded.
Flexible control via MIDI
The Erica Synths Echolocator can be controlled via MIDI In using MIDI CC commands, with the exception of the input level and master volume, which remain manual. The adjacent MIDI Thru can be switched to MIDI Out via the settings menu, allowing the unit to send MIDI CC commands to a DAW or other hardware. To sync with external gear, pressing the "Back" and "Tap Tempo" buttons at the same time locks the delay time to the incoming MIDI clock. In this mode, the main delay time knob functions as a multiplier (anti-clockwise) or divider (clockwise) for the clock signal. Available time divisions include 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 16/3, and 8, offering flexible rhythmic control.
