I've been using Dunlop Tortex sharp pickups for almost ten years and they suit my purposes and playing style perfectly.
They're great for heavy blues, rock and metal riffs but are still nimble and precise enough for thrash. The sharp edge is wonderful for pinch harmonics (Zakk Wilde-esque squealies)
I tend to use the 1.14mm version of the pick (the purple one) as it's just 'right' for me. In particular, I find the sharp edge is wonderful for pinch harmonics (the squealies :-)
I do use these heavier 1.35mm picks for bass and I'm planning on buying a 7-string in the future and I'm sure they'll come in handy for the heavier string gauges.

Change picks after 20 years. Articulation!
Moreplovac 15.08.2025
For over 20 years I have played Dunlop Gator picks because they give a beefy darker sound. In a video on YouTube I saw a recommendation for this Sharp picks of this thickness and I took it to try. I was delighted because they give an articulated sound and sound pro. Great for fast riffs and solos. I mostly play black metal. I almost forgot the old picks next to these. I would like to mention that I don't really like regular Tortex picks, but these are different.

Great picks
mr.bagrov 19.02.2022
I have been playing only on these picks for more than 10 years.
They are very convenient for me. Do not add unpleasant sounds during the game. Nice material, non-slip. Made without complaints.
Genres: metalcore, metal, rock.

Perfect Pick for Fast and Precise Playing
LexQ 17.11.2025
I got the Tortex Sharp 1.35 picks mainly for metal and high-precision alternate picking. These picks feel extremely durable and offer a sharp, controlled attack. They glide across strings smoothly, ideal for tight riffing and articulate solos. The grip texture prevents slipping and stays reliable even with sweaty hands. A must-have for players who need heavy, accurate picks for fast playing styles. Highly recommended.

Best grip of tortex ones
Louemetal 14.09.2021
This has the best grip of the pointy tortex spectrums because of the turtle being carved in.
This is my favourite for metal and has a good prize.

If you skip the fact that the grip does not fell perfect these picks are durable and provide quick movement.

Long lasting, rich tone, precise picking. It suits me, but I prefer 1.5mm little bit more.

Great plectrums!
Anonymous 12.01.2016
I enjoy these plectrums a lot - their surface is slightly roughened, so if your fingers get slippery you will be less likely to loose it. They wear out slower than some other standard dunlop plectrums as well!
