Great interface overall

I was initially surprised by the size of the interface as it is HUGE. Looks great in a studio and the build quality is fantastic, except for the headphone dials which seem a little plasticy and wobbly.

The sound quality is great and for the amount of features you have it is a steal.

One downside however is that the control app is a bit complicated and the drivers are not easy to find. It is not plug-and-play, so it is not super convenient if you have a studio where a lot of new people come every week who all need to download the control app.

Another little downside is that I wish they would add a compressor & tuner to the DSP, as I use this often when tracking vocals.

BUT if it's just you and a few regulars using it, I think you will be very happy with the purchase.

For reference, I have had many different audio interfaces in the past, such as; UAD Apollo, Audient ID4, Focusrite scarlet(s), and SSL2 - so far MBOX is my favourite next to the Apollo. If you need an easy plug-and-play solution, however, the SSL may be a better option.

Overall I am pleased and it is a nice addition to my commercial studio.

everything you need in a small form factor

I wanted adat in and out to keep my signal chain fully digital. The mixer app has everything I needed to route my audio. I am extremely happy with its versatility.

Avid Mbox Studio

Lately I've been using Uad apollo twin gen2, so I'm comparing Mbox to it. Personally, I like Uad console better, it's simple and understandable, Mbox control is confusing, fx delay and reverb are not needed, it would be better to have a compressor. Loopback function is also incomprehensible and the manual has a very short description from which I never understood how to use it, but that's my problem. And I really liked the board itself in terms of functionality, I recommended it to my friends and they bought it, they were also satisfied. The price corresponds to the quality

I wanted an in to ProTools and the mbox studio was it. the license and the whole ecosystem got me hooked. I am now a vivid avid fanboy and this was my gateway drug! Best bang for buck guaranteed!

If you want to hear better, more neutral conversations with Pro Tools, choose Avid products. I was worried about sound quality because of the price range, but when I got the Mbox Studio, the sound was really great, and I am very satisfied. Conversations are accurate, and I feel really confident in mixing. I did a lot of vocal tracking with an U87 and a super clean preamp. The AD/DA is better than other products in this price range, in my personal opinion. I have tried the analog insert [1176 Audioascape], and the sound is amazing for me. You can use it in many ways, and the Bluetooth input and output are really helpful for your project; you don't even need a monitor controller. Two headphone amps are really enough for recording and headphone mixing. The quality is always top-notch from Avid. Ah, there is a Pro Tools Studio perpetual license that is free!

Must try this product; you will never regret it.

it is like a small console, you have everything you need in it for a home studio and not only. I have upgraded from Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen and there is a huge difference in sound quality and preamps also

Great Value for Money

If you are a Pro Tools user, you cannot go wrong with the Mbox Studio. The preamps are clean/modern and generally sound very good, what is most impressive about this interface are the routing options and available IO. The Mbox app provides you with the flexibility or routing and creating separate cue mixes for every output available which is an incredible value proposition at the price point. We’d highly recommend this interface.

Best Audio Interface under 1000€

I absolutely love this audio interface! I haven't encountered any issues with it, and I'm really enjoying using it. It looks stunning and gives you the feel of working with a mini mixing console. While the push knob can be a bit tricky at times, it’s a minor concern compared to the amazing features the sound card offers. The only thing I wish it had is a built-in compressor within its mixer app. Overall, it's a fantastic piece of gear!

The most underrated audio interface ever existed

AVID MBOX Studio – Surprisingly Good!

I’m really impressed. The sound quality is super clean, and it works great with my setup. I love how easy it is to switch between inputs and control everything from the front panel. The built-in re-amp feature is a nice bonus too. It feels solid and reliable—perfect for both recording and mixing at home. If you're looking for something professional but not overly complicated, this is a great choice. Definitely happy with it!
