Transparent utility compressor, I use it for delay-less vocal compressing and gate. You can be pretty aggressive with the compression, I keep it at almost max for singing. No complaints about gate, you can place mic in front PA and it won't feedback. Fulfills my usecase perfectly. I don't know how the detector is EQ-biased (if at all), but it works well with vocals out-of-the-box.

However, heads up: you need to supply it line-level signal! Just inputting a basic vocal microphone will have too low level and it will not function properly: glassy and spiky sound will follow.

I can see it functioning well for snare and bass as well, but maybe not perfect for other instruments.
