My first trumpet
I can't say much as a beginner but I think this instrument has a higher quality craftsmanship than other ones in its price range.
I just love the tone quality and I feel something darker and more intimate in the sound with the larger bore.
I'm sure it was the best choice for me considering my budget and the sound what I am looking for.

An Impressive Horn For Student Or Professional!
This horn is a winner! As a performing jazz musician and educator, I was looking for a reasonably priced backup trumpet that was good enough to play on stage. To my surprise, this beautiful Thomann TR-800L truly exceeds my expectations.
At $450 with shipping to the USA, this large bore gold lacquer horn arrived in just a couple days shipped from Germany. Upon opening the case, I was amazed at the impressive design and superb build quality of this instrument. With a hand-hammered one-piece bell, super smooth and fast Monel valves, and precision craftsmanship throughout, I was amazed at the world-class quality at this price point.
This Thomann trumpet plays on par with professional horns. The look and sound quality is so close to my Schilke B3 trumpet it is remarkable. This is a very versatile trumpet with a rich tone and very precise intonation top to bottom. I can go from a dark and intimate ballad horn to an altissimo screamer with just a simple change of mouthpieces.
Either this large bore TR-800 or the medium-large bore TR-4000 would be a fine instrument for any aspiring student or professional. Check out these superb trumpets for yourself... you'll be glad you did.

Soo Glad Christmas Came Early
I’m a new player and started out on a $100 cornet off of Amazon…this was a HUGE upgrade! Not only did it hit the proper note with little effort, but this horn is gorgeous to boot. While I may have never heard of Thomann before, I can safely say that I am now a fan for life.

Plays Nice !
I wanted a free blowing horn suitable for playing in a concert band. I took a gamble on this Thomann horn and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the trumpet.
The instrument is well made, nicely finished in gold lacquer and comes with a good lightweight back pack style hard case. It had clearly been checked over before dispatch.
The slides all move smoothly and the valves are quick, light and quiet. It feels nicely balanced and is light in the hands.
It plays very nicely with my 1.5c mouthpiece and has a rich mellow tone in the low register that becomes more round and clear as you ascend the scale. The response is fairly even throughout the range and intonation is good with a little adjustment required here and there. The open G above the staff needs a careful use of ear and lip to stop it going too sharp.
It's a large bore horn so can get loud very quickly if pushed, but has enough resistance to be kept under dynamic control. The one piece bell has a nice resonance and set of overtones, but it doesn't shimmer like my Kanstul ( but that's probably down to it being lacquered rather than silver plate).
Is it suitable for beginners ? I would say yes, it's light ,easy to blow , sounds great and a lot better value for money than the Yamaha YTR-3335 I've played which is marketed as a student horn.
All in all this is a very good trumpet. It is not a Schilke B3 or a Conn Connstellation but a bargain price pro horn I'm going to keep and play.

Solid upgrade to intermediate
Just got this as my second trumpet and it is a significant upgrade over my first ever silver-plated trumpet that I learned to play on. It produces a warm and soft sound and is quite expressive with the Bach 7C mouthpiece I bought with it. Definitely recommended at this price point.

Wonderful trumpet
I am a professional trombone player that has found myself playing trumpet over the years, mostly in a jazz setting. This horn has a lovely dark sound, great response, and solid build quality and looks. I prefer it's ease of use and sound to many other more expensive trumpets (even some strads!) so at this price it's hard to go wrong.
