Top quality but uncommon size
taddeomaiden 01.01.2018
The nut is great as any other Graph Tech product: good material, enhances the tone and stabilizes the tuning, but it will require some extremely accurate work to fit a P bass.
The length and the string spacing are correct, but it's very much higher and deeper than a normal P bass nut, so it will need a lot of sanding.
However, the major letdown is that it's flat-bottomed, unlike a standard Fender nut, and that complicates the installation a lot.
So my advice is: buy it if you're going to install it behind the fretboard, skip it if it's for a Fender-type bass 'cause installing it will be too much of a hassle and if you're not VERY careful you'll ruin the nut and need to buy another one.

P
Great replacement for the Thomann short scale bass
Pete-plays-guitar 14.05.2018
I really love the Thomann short scale bass, but the white plastic nut it comes with is really nasty and cheap. This nut is the perfect width for it.

I had to increase the width of nut slot with careful filing, but this nut is so much better and the bass seems to have much more sustain (I don't think it is just my imagination).

The nut iutself is quite deep, so whichever bass you need it for, it will require a substantial sanding down, but better there being too much which you can work with rather than too less.

The material feels like it is going to last, and from the sanding process to bring the heigth down, it comes across as a quite dense material.

So far, no problems, so I can highly recommend it.

M
sounds good but the D slot is deeper than the other ones (that's a NO GO!)
McKind 13.11.2022
As my first bass turned 33 years old, it deserved some refurbishing. Last not least, the nut was about to turn into dust. Actually, when I unglued it, it broke into 3 pieces...
Anyway, I took all the measurements, filed the new nut according to the neck radius and the desired height and glued it in place. When I restringed the bass, I immediately realized that the D string was lying way below the other three. After a couple of plucks, the impression was confirmed and the D string is unplayable (it keeps banging against the first fret when playing the empty string).
That's a pity because it sounds very good, way better than before (OK, the old cracked nut is not a proper reference here...) adding a lot of sustain.
I haven't sent it back because I modified it (N.B. I didn't touch the slots!), but eventually it turned into a waste of money.

RB
Great nut!
Radu Burcea 30.05.2021
Yes, the title might be read in two different ways but all in all, this graphite nut is fantastic. It really keeps the strings from detuning during songs and it has a nice feel to it.

I paired this with my Gretch Junior Jet 2 bass and it's a massive improvement upon the stock nut. One bad part about this bass is that it tends to detune pretty badly mid song, especially when using bends, because of its 30.5" scale. This nut paired with a Hi-Mass bridge helped with the overall detuning issues. I hope changing the tuners with some locking tuners will further improve on the issue.

Great nut!

JK
Works as expected
James K. 20.07.2021
Bought as a replacement nut for an old aria jazz bass, product worked well but a lot of work had to go into sanding it to fit, which is part and parcel of the process, however when sanding the base of the nut to the correct size it seems to sand uneasily and a lot of checking and correction was needed to get it right, use a very fine wet and dry sand paper and do not rush.

I've been trying to get the tones better on my Maison bass. Something was odd and off and that is when I decided to change the nut and check if that was it. This nut transformed the guitar in tone and way to play. It changed it for the better. Way better than the stock Maison one, no comparison there. I wasn't expecting to be worse but one never knows. A professional setup and this nut was enough to get out that annoying 'bzzz'. If you're considering to buy this, in some cases, you'll have to sand its height a bit. I needed it.

Graph tech bass nut
Ben7676 28.08.2014
These nuts are very pleasing to the eye and back that up with being great nuts. I have used many graph tech nuts on my bass guitars and they have held up well so far. I'm not sure how they age (I haven't had mine for too long) but I'm sure judging by their quality they would last very well.

Exact string spacing for their products can be found on their website so it makes designing a bass with a graph tech nut very easy.

My nut came with a few burs on the underside, but that is nothing that a small file couldn't sort out.

Good quality nut, good price
Razvan L. 11.03.2016
I needed this to use heavier gauge strings on my bass for down tuning. It was easy to replace and my overall sustain and tone actually improved a little.
