Great upgrade to the 3rd gen
I use this not for studio recording but for audio routing for lighting/video. It has been great attached to a computer running Dante Via to get a large number of inputs and outputs, and the internal mixer is very helpful for e.g. combining two streams of timecode. I only wish it had more than two loopback interfaces, four would be ideal for me.

Focusrite on Linux
After some configuration it is working fine on Arch Linux with Rosegarden.

Buggy software/hardware
The audio interface is good but sometimes you there is noise (windows) that disappear when you turn off and on the unit. Maybe buggy drivers.
