Last line of defence in your polyphonic setup
Doepfer have quite a range of polyphonic modules. The first batch were introduced in 2018 and were little more than basic MIDI-VCO-VCF-VCA-ADSR, albeit nicely integrated, and taking up a lot less space than separate modules.
First shipped in 2024, the A-135-5 joined another recently added module (poly slew limiter A-171-4) and it gives you a really tidy mixer but with sub-oscillator as well. If you are into your evolving drones, the A-135-5 is a must have, since you can use this to fade in the different layers via CV with added bass richness.
The subharmonic addition is just one octave, so not as flexible as the A-113 subharmonic generator but the latter takes a lot of space, especially in a live rack so the compromise is well worth keeping some spare HP.
If you're a drone maniac and have a small case just for evolving low loveliness, the A-135-5 will fit in really well. If you have a polyphonic setup then this is really useful and integrates well because you can connect it to other poly modules via Dupont/Arduino jumper wires on the rear, meaning you don't have to clutter up the front panel. Even if you do set up the jumper wires, the front sockets are still usable and override the rear cables.
