Excellent for the vintage nerd
PegLeg 29.02.2024
I bought the bridge and neck pickup at the same time, as a set(kind of) and will review them as such therefore I won't review the bridge pickup separately.

I put these in a 2001 Gretsch G6120T Players Edition which already is a good guitar.

Why? After installing a TVJones Classic/Classic+ set in a 5420T I felt that the original G6120 pickups lacked clarity in both top and bottom end - i.e. a bit muddy. Since I mostly play 50's/60's based tunes the Ful-Fidelities seemed like the obvious choice.

According to TVJones the Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups are supposed to be less powerful than the Classics (which isn't always a bad thing) and deliver a more vintagey sound in comparison.

I'm not sure about the power thing but they do sound as promised with the clarity without shrillness that is expected from TVJones pickups.

Pros: Soundwise excellent for the vintage nerd.

Cons: IMO regarding just the pickups - none.
Maybe I could have had use for a Gretsch schematic in the box, both TVJones and Gretsch have them available on their respective sites though, so download and printout is recommended.

Installing them in a precious semi acoustic like the G6120 is not for the fainthearted, if you feel insecure about swapping pickups I suggest getting a little help from someone more experienced.

My height settings measured from the non fretted string:
Bridge: E1 - 4mm E6 - 4mm
Neck: E1 - 4.75 mm E6 - 5.60mm

For the nerd, equipment used:
2001 Gretsch G6120T Players Edition
Sommer cable XXL
'67 Fender Deluxe Reverb.
