One amp to rule them all

First, This amp DOES run on either 110 or 220. I communicated with Udo Klempt-Gießing, directly, and he told me this directly in an email. There is a switch on the bottom of the amp that switches the voltage. Just slide the switch to the desired voltage, install the correct fuse, and you are good to go. I am in the US and I have one. Now onto the review.......

The first thing you notice when you unpack this amp in, is how smooth the controls are, you can feel the quality immediately. All of the different sections of the amp, the drive/voice, EQ all function perfectly. If you run the amp with the EQ, and drive/voice off and you will hear exactly what your bass really sounds like. I use a little drive just to add some a little growl, and that is about it. This is the most accurate amplifier I have ever used, and I have had quite a few, Mesa Subway WD800, and the D-800+, Genzler, GK, EBS, TecAmp, just to name a few, and the Steamhammer is a far superior product. My only complaint is, the amp is so accurate, my mistakes come through loud and clear.

IMHO, This amp is far and away the absolute finest Class D amp on the market I have found to date. I have been manufacturing boutique bass cabinets for over 20 years, and have given seminars on sound, and I have finally found the amp I have always been looking for. And one more thing, I just love saying "Glockenklang Steamhammer" Coolest name ever.

Do not pass go, Buy this amp now, you will never regret it.

Echte Schwächen konnte ich bisher noch nicht ausmachen.
Die für mich wichtigsten Pluskunkte des Steamhammers sind:

-> Drive/Voice Sektion
Mit wenigen Handgriffen habe ich dem Amp einen Charakter, eine "Stimme" verpasst. Unabhängig vom EQ kann ich den Amp in weiten Grenzen an meinen Soundgeschmack anpassen. Für mich macht es absolut Sinn, dass Drive/Voice immer im DI-Signal enthalten ist, auch pre-EQ. Der EQ dient jetzt nur noch dazu, die Anlage an die Bühnenakustik anzupassen.

-> Leistungsentfaltung
Diese Amp kann laut. SEHR laut, und zwar ohne dass es in den Ohren weh tut, also nicht wattig/quäkig, sondern wie ein anständiger Bass-Amp. Das hat er allen anderen Class D Amps, die ich bis jetzt gehört habe, voraus.

-> Attraktiver Preis durch Sinnvolle Sparmaßnahmen
Gegenüber Blue Rock und Blue Sky wurde der Steamhammer bei den Features etwas abgespeckt, zb gibt es keine durchstimmbaren Mitten, sondern "nur" zwei schaltbare Frequenzen pro Mittenregler. Mir persönlich reicht das völlig. Auch die einkanalige Auslegung ist für mich total okay. Daher ist der Steamhammer für mich der Glockenklang mit dem besten Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis.

-> Größe und Gewicht
Was soll ich sagen? Der Bass Art Classic hat 4 HE und wiegt 18 Kilo. Der Steamhammer wiegt nurein Fünftel, klingt vielleicht nicht ganz so geschmeidig, kommt aber nah genug ran.

Ampli qui se montre très polyvalent, les sons sont très bien définis, les réglages sont réactifs.
Retranscrit parfaitement la sonorités de mes basses, une Lakland 44.02 et une Vigier passion/3/uni-pré4 sur un 4x10 GK.
3 petits défauts à mon sens la lecture de la face avant (trop petit) , l'interrupteur et prise casque à l'arrière.
Au regard de la qualité tant apparente que sonore de cette magnifique tête, sans hésitation de referai ce choix.
« Deutsche Qualität »...
Reste à trouver un autre cab additionnel, pour étancher sa soif de se faire entendre. Coté puissance il a ce qu'il faut.
Par contre côté emballage il est chanceux qu'il soit arrivé intact.
