This is my first hardware compressor.. and I'm glad I decided on the Warm.
Using it mainly for vocals and even with very little compression applied I've noticed an incredible improvement in sound.
My ribbon microphone never sounded smoother or more warm. A welcome upgrade from any software compressor I've used.

worth the money
i don't know what the original thing sounds like.. but i bypass the Manley core comp and use the wa-2a instead since i got it!

Tube warmth
This compressor is great. You can get some smooth opto compression easily and if you want some tube distortion just trun the Pre-emphasis knob on the back. I do with that knob was on the front but it's still a great piece of gear. Just sounds good. Built solid. I like it!

It arrived and I threw it in the rack and some wires in the rear. Ticking the meter on a vocal I’m as satisfied and smug as can be. It’s doing everything beautifully and money that’s spare will increase my mic options. Incidentally I pushed the ‘73 EQ input gain and I was underwhelmed. I thought I would have enjoyed more head 😮

Go to compressor for vocals
Used it in every recording for the last year and it never disappoints me! Have never compared it to the original, but in my opinion it is workin just fine, not only that but great if you ask me. It also ads some tube saturation to the source which is also a bonus! Could not recomend it more.

Haven’t had the pleasure of testing an original LA-2A but this sounds great. Adds a nice tube warmth, love it as an insert on my Neve and it didn't break the bank!
