Vic Firth VFVKB2 Beater wood

io son sicuro che il prodotto sia buono ma nelle "mani" sbagliate non è molto longevo. quand'ero più giovane e le serate multigruppo fioccavano, mi sono confrontato con batteristi di ogni tipo. dai più strani ai più scemi. l'esperienza non c'entra niente ed in musicisti esperti le convinzioni sono ancor più dure da sradicare! e allora si sentiva parlare di quello che incollava la moneta da cento lire sul battente per avere l'attacco di ulrich di "..and justice for all", l'altro che suonava con le bacchette rovesciate, l'altro ancora che si vantava di aver rotto tre pelli in una settimana.. e così via, una bischerata dietro l'altra.
il battente in legno è davvero ganzo se suonato con gnegnero. dà una chiarezza elegante alla cassa e definizione insperata. ma fra i piedi di un metallaro demente o di un punk nichilista resiste tre minuti. è quello che è successo al mio. peccato! custodirò gelosamente il prossimo.

This beater series by Vic Firth is absolutely spot on. I use either the wood and felt versions almost exclusively now (over stock beaters), depending on the sound I'm after. The shape of the beaters is great - striking the drum with the rounded edge gives a very consistent sound and using the flat face gives considerably more "oomph"! They're also very solid and I can't imagine anything going wrong with them. I don't go anywhere without having both options in my stick bag now!

The wood one, VKB2, caught me by surprise - I don't usually like wooden beaters, but this one is a great weight and the sound isn't over the top. I use it when I want more definition - usually when I'm not miced up and the felt can be a little too muffled. In fact, the first time I used the VKB2 over the VKB1, a friend of mine commented on how he liked the more "woody" sound my bass drum had that day - he couldn't believe it when I told him it was my first time trying a wooden beater! The man has magical ears!! Great beater. Get it!
