Kerry Whistles Busker Alto Tunable G

The whistle is basically as good as all the other Kerry whistles (I own low D Chieftan, Optima F, The Busker G, A, Bb and high D), but this specimen was not made precisely or lacked quality control.
I had to sand the barrel down about 1.5 to 2mm because it was impossible to tune. It was too low. I needed it for recording music and no matter how tunable it was, it didn't tune to right frequency.
Another problem was the note G in the higher octave. It was relatively low compared to other notes. That's why I also had to sand the first hole with fine sandpaper and make it larger. Fortunately, the whistle is made of aluminum, so it can be easily sanded. After two hours of carefull sanding of the barrel and the first hole (while constantly checking the tuning) I was able to fix the tuning. Now it's perfect!
I wouldn't advise anyone to do these mods unless you are sure of what you are doing. Grinding one hole is possible only if the tuning is too low, and this grinding has a little effect on higher tones as well.
Considering the rather high price of the whistle, I expected better performance and quality control. If the tuning was good, the whistle would get five stars without a problem. This way the rating is lower.

Ich freue mich , die erste Bewertung für die Kerry Busker Alto Tunable G abgeben zu dürfen. Da ich bereits zwei Kerry Optima habe (Alto F und Low D), habe ich von Kerry nur Gutes erwartet. Und so ist es auch. Die Busker Alto G glänzt durch einen vollen, warmen Klang und ist gut bespielbar. In der Lautstärke ist sie präsent, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, fügt sich im Zusammenspiel als begleitender Background gut ein und ist gleichermaßen als Solo-Instrument im Vordergrund eindeutig. Kurz: Sie tut, was sie tun soll - und das ziemlich gut! Ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis! Ich bin äußerst zufrieden!

Grundsätzlich sehr schöner tiefer Klang. Leider kein recht großer (exakt intonierter/gutklingender) Tonumfang, denn nach dem ersten Überblasen ist dann Schluss ...

Schon die ersten überblasene D, E und F# gehen sind nur noch mit entsprechender Griffweise korrekt intoniert. Es kann sein dass jemand der recht viel Erfahrung und Gespür hat (ich komme von normaler C/D Tin-Whistle) dennoch gut klingende höhere Töne zaubern kann (immer schwer so etwas akkurat per Text auszuformulieren). Die dürften im Normalfall allerdings recht schrill/forciert klingen - nur meine Meinung/Erfahrung.

Dennoch, wie gesagt, ist vor allem die untere Oktave sehr schön anzuhören und auch darüber ein bisschen was möglich. Für mich, für den Preis dann leider eine Spur zu wenig Tonumfang.

Nachtrag: Es gibt gute diverse Anleitungsvideos auf der Seite von Kerry Whistles, die Okatvsprünge etc gut zeigen und kann mir gut vorstellen, dass sich vor allem die anderen Whistles von ihnen (Low-D, Chieftain, etc.) sehr viel höher spielen lassen (klingen auch wunderschön in deren Tutorials/Videos).
