I love the method they use to teach in this book. It starts by letting you learn some common funk/r&b bass lines and doubling it by guitar.

It's also great in the way that they teach you how to apply the stuff you learn and the context in which it can be used.

the audio examples supplied are a great resource which can be slowed down OR sped up! Only thing I don't like about it is that it can take quite some effort to make loop points in the audio player online.

Some concepts might be too hard for total beginners, but they're still doable, even if you can't perform everything at 100% the speed that they use.

right, last but not least, you get chord diagrams with their inversions, scales explained that can be used and how to use them.. Also transcribed example songs.

What I love the most about this book is that everything you get thaught is being thaught in a way that you'll have no trouble applying it on your own songs or during jams.

Das Buch bietet Funk / Soul Gitarristen ein rundum Werk, das sowohl die Rhythmus als auch die Lead Gitarre in diesem Musikstil beleuchtet und ausbaut! Es beginnt mit typischen Rhythmus Patterns die über Bass und Drumgrooves (Studioqualität) von der CD geübt werden können!

Ferner, werden Akkordumkehrungen der wichtigsten Dur und Moll Akkorde in verschiedenen Positionen gezeigt, was für mich eine große Hilfe und Erweiterung meines harmonischen Könnens war!

Weiter geht es mit Solo- und Melodielines über bestimmte funktypische Akkordverbindungen als Übung aber auch als Inspiration für eigene kreative Ideen! "Creating Rhythm Guitar Parts"...

Ganz praktisch ist die "Listening List" am Anfang des Buches, welche einen Anreitz zum Hören bekannter Funk Nummern aus der Geschichte geben soll!

Weiter hinten geht der Autor auch noch auf spezielle Skalen und Spieltechniken, wie verschiedene Bendings, Finger Pulls und Pushes ein.

Auch wird das Equipment, wie Verstärker, das richtige Instrument, Effekte usw. welches eben typisch für diesen Musikstil ist diskutiert und erörtert!

Alles in Allem ein umfangreiches, praxisnahes, sehr logisch und strukturiert aufgebautes Werk mit geballter Ladung an Inhalt und Lernzuwachs!!! Auch als Nachschlagewerk für Skalen (Five Positions usw.) gut zu gebrauchen!
