Extraordinary low whistle and incredible service.
I wont say much about the chieftain v5 whistle, because there are many reviews you can watch on youtube. It is a quality whistle and worth every penny. Beyond the build quality and beautiful finish, it has a great tone. In my opinion, it doesn't require as much air as some people say. If you are considering this for your first low whistle, it may take some time to get used to the spacings depending on what whistle you are transitioning from, but this whistle makes it quite easy. All in all a great purchase.
I also want to mention the insanely fast shipping. I live in the US so I was astonished that the whistle arrived within 3 business days. The team at thomann are also very quick to respond and mediate issues with payment. Thanks again!

Instrument qui sent la qualité !
Bonjour !
M'essayant à cet instrument je suis tombé là dessus suite à des recommandations. Vraiment propre, on sent la qualité dans les matériaux, la prise en main est très intuitive et le fait de pouvoir détuner est un vrai plus pour jouer avec d'autres instruments (ex Handpans)

New to piping; this V5 says to me, "You can do this!"
My Chieftain V5 low D arrived just an hour ago. I can obtain two octaves and get through "Greensleeves". The on-line reviews I've seen agree with my early observations and I look forward to the journey of learning and enjoying this instrument.

Chieftain V5 Low D tuneable
Soy un músico profesional y he adquirido este low whistle afinada. En primer lugar he podido comprobar la magnífica construcción y terminación del instrumento haciéndolo bello y bastante duradero. En lo que a la sonoridad se refiere me ha impresionado la afinación y el sonido redondo y hermoso que los caracteriza. Me siento muy satisfecho con la compra.

An easy-playing whistle with a very mellow, airy sound
The playability is very good: no squeaks, easy enough high notes, ornaments sound crisp and the backpressure is just right for nice confident breath vibrato. However, the sound is very mellow and airy so it won't cut very well through a mix with other instruments and ended up being the reason why I'm returning the whistle. But if mellow and airy is what you're looking for, you'll probably be happy.
Regarding build quality, the fingerholes have a sharp edge to them which makes sliding from one note to another a bit uncomfortable but it's not enough to be painful.
All in all, a great whistle but it simply wasn't what I was looking for sound-wise.

Dream Whistle.
If you started with a penny whistle and got so far that you don’t know what to do next, then check out the low whistle of the Chieftain V5 Low D Tuneable. So far, as a beginner, I have not been able to play quieter on a high octave, but my neighbors across the wall appreciated this quality.

Buon flauto
Premetto che è il mio primo (e finora anche ultimo) low whistle, quindi non posso paragonarlo con altri strumenti, tuttavia posso dire che ha un bel suono e richiede poca aria per essere suonato.

Great whistle
I bought this low whistle for recording purposes and I'm very satisfied. It's accurate in pitch and it's very expressive instrument. You have to practice instrument and work hard to learn and became skillful at pipers grip technique, but you get a lot from this whistle if you spend some time learning and practising. You need a lot of air to play it, but it sounds great, very natural.
