Don't be afraid of light gauges

I've been always told that heavy strings are good for you. I believed and tried to play with sets like 10-46, 10-52, or even 11-56. And I was wondering why it was so hard to play bends and bar chords, like an F major :)
...and then I realized that there existed lighter gauges, and for a good reason :)
Pros of light strings:
- less tension in the left hand;
- more accurate bends;
- you'll develop lighter touch and play faster;
- you'll love your guitar more because it's so comfortable to play :)

I don't really know what heavy gauges are good for. More sustain? More output? Having better control and less tension seems much more important to me.

My guitar is 24.75", standard tuning. I totally enjoy how it feels with the 8.5-40 set, I don't even want to sell it anymore.

Ideal lighter gauge strings

Really enjoy the tension of these, since they're 8.5 which is just a slightly less tight feeling than 9's. The low strings are slightly thicker than a usual 8 gauge set too, so it feels more balanced.

Impressed and would use again!

Die Saiten sind im ersten Eindruck sehr empfehlenswert, man hört, dass sie die Zwischenstellung zwischen Pickups z.B. verbessert und auch genug Power in Einzelstellungen der Pickups da ist. Das Saitenziehen ist sensationell leicht und eine neue Erfahrung. Bei weiterer Bearbeitungen der Gitarre oder bei neuen Saitenjustierungen mit Herab- und Heraufdrehen an den Knöpfen merkt man aber, dass der Zug/Sound vom Anfang nicht gleich bleibt, es zieht eher etwas nach. Es braucht etwas Geduld, bis sich das wieder richtig einhängt. Im Bass Bereich fällt dann ein wenig vom Sound heraus, das ist aber nicht schlimm (wer das nicht will, sollte sich an GHS Boomers wohl eher halten). Der Unterschied ist nicht hoch und die Saiten bleiben dann bald stabil so. (Ich glaube aber, an der Verarbeitung der Saiten könnte da noch eine Kleinigkeit eventuell verbessert werden, das ist was für Ingenieure natürlich, also "übergenau"). Kein hohes Problem ist daraus gemeint. Die Saiten sind gut!!
