Terms and Conditions: Thomann X Shure X Montreux Jazz Festival – Band Contest

Notice: Participation in an online contest or the chance to win is separate and independent from ordering goods from Thomann GmbH! This contest is not connected to Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook in any way and is not sponsored, endorsed, or organized by Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook.

Participation in contests and the execution of contests on the website of Musikhaus Thomann (www.thomann.de) are governed by the following provisions:

1. Contest

The “Band Contest” in cooperation with Shure and the Montreux Jazz Festival is conducted by Thomann GmbH, Managing Director: Hans Thomann, Hans-Thomann-Str. 1, 96138 Burgebrach, Germany (the “Organizer”).

2. Participation

  1. Eligible participants must be at least 18 years old.
  2. To participate in this contest, the following information must be fulfilled and submitted via our t.blog:


  • Complete our “Application” form
  • Designate a contact person. This can be the artist themselves, a band member, or management
  • No limitations regarding genre, instrument(s), band setup
  • No specific (e.g., social media) reach or media presence required
  • No local restriction on applicants
  • Each participant may submit only one contest entry


  • Two pieces of content
  • One song (audio or video files)
  • One live performance (video file)
    • Submissions must be provided as video and/or audio links
    • Content or songs do not need to be newly written or produced. Existing content is accepted
    • Music from all genres is accepted as long as it meets the general musical orientation of the festival
    • Submissions via any platform except Dropbox are accepted; YouTube is preferred
    • Submissions that are politically, racially, or sexually discriminatory are excluded

3. Exclusion from the Contest

  1. Employees of Thomann GmbH, their cooperation partners, and their relatives (e.g., parents, siblings, spouses) are excluded from participation.
  2. In the event of a breach of these terms and conditions, especially through the use of unauthorized aids and other manipulations, the organizer reserves the right to exclude individuals from the contest. In such cases, prizes may also be revoked and reclaimed retrospectively.
  3. The contest runs from Monday, 06.05, 12:00 PM to Wednesday, 20.05, 11:59:59 PM (contest period). The contest period and deadline apply to all platforms. Submissions for this contest after this deadline are excluded from the contest.

4. Execution and Settlement

  1. After correct participation as described above, the winner will be determined from all participants who have submitted their contest entry correctly, through a multi-stage selection process (see information post).The winner will be informed directly by the organizer via the email address provided and through our social media platforms. The winner explicitly agrees to this form of publication. Winners confirm to the organizer that they accept the prize and provide the information necessary for the transfer of the prize.The entitlement to the prize expires if the award cannot be made. This is especially the case if a winner does not confirm acceptance of the prize within 3 days after the announcement. In this case, the organizer reserves the right to determine a new winner.
  1. Prizes and related information will be sent by the organizer to the email address provided by the winner.
  2. Exchange of prizes, cash payment, or any compensation is excluded.
  3. The claim to the prize or compensation cannot be transferred to third parties.

5. Prizes

  1. The main prize (1st place) includes:
    • A slot (1 hr.) at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2024
    • Coverage of travel and hotel costs for the winner(s)
    • Shure equipment* worth 7.000€
    • Exclusive content production around the performance
  2. The second (2nd) place prize includes:
    1. Shure equipment* worth 5.000€
  3. The third (3rd) place prize includes:
    1. Shure equipment* worth 3.000€
      • *The equipment won’t be chosen by us, the winners will be allowed to select whatever Shure equipment fits their needs.
  4. An exchange of prizes or any compensation for winners is excluded. The claim to the prize or winner replacement cannot be transferred to third parties.
  5. The overall prize must not necessarily be identical to the products shown. Variations in color, shape, and model are possible.

6 Advertising

Participants in this contest agree that no financial or other claim against Thomann and the other organizers arises through dissemination over the Internet and other media. Moreover, all participants of the contest agree that the organizers may use their contest entries for advertising and promotional purposes, including (but not limited to) broadcast on radio and television, advertising purposes, and public performance.

The winners of this contest agree that their names, including any artist names, and possibly photo and film recordings may be used for advertising purposes related to this contest, including publication in print and on the Internet.

7. Data Protection

  1. The participant agrees that the organizer stores all data necessary for the execution of the contest for the duration of the contest. The organizer has partially transferred services necessary for the execution and handling of the contest to third parties (“cooperation partners”). The participants’ data is stored by the cooperation partner(s) for the duration of the contest for execution and handling. All data will be deleted after the contest has ended and been settled.
  2. By participating in this contest, participants agree that their data may be processed for the aforementioned purposes by third parties, especially transmitted by the organizer to third parties.
  3. Participants can revoke their consent to the processing of their data at any time. The revocation must be in writing to social@thomann.de. In this case, however, the organizer may have to exclude them from further participation. Furthermore, they have the rights to information and correction granted by the Federal Data Protection Act regarding the collected data.

8. Liability

  1. The organizers are released from all obligations upon handing over the prize.

9. Miscellaneous

  1. Legal recourse is excluded.
  2. Only the law of the Federal Republic of Germany is applicable, excluding the reference provisions of international private law.
