I was looking for a desk with a pull-out shelf that would take the weight of a full 88key weighted keyboard (with pitch and mod wheel), and this is perfect for the job. It has even survived a couple of studio moves around London.
There is a good amount of rack space for outboard, and the build quality is solid as a rock. There are also handy holes and shelves at the back for keeping cables tidy(ish).
Make sure you combine it with a good height-adjustable office chair (sometimes you want to be higher to reach outboard etc, sometimes you want to be lower to fit your knees under the keyboard shelf!), and be extra-careful to pay attention to the build instructions as it's easy to get things the wrong way round...
I've been using this desk for a few months now. My key reason for getting it was that I needed to put my master keyboard in front of me while I'm at the workstation, but still have access to smaller control surfaces, computer keyboard, smaller keyboards and so on. It meets that need for me, with no problems.
It goes together well - self assembly - the instructions are slightly cryptic, but once you get your head around it, there's no problem. Just follow the assembly sequence exactly. It is heavy! It arrived on two pallets - you'll want some help moving it before unpacking.
It is sturdy - no wobble or vibration. It looks nice in a very slightly utilitarian way - let's face it, the next step would probably be bespoke furniture, costing much more. The veneer finish is of a decent quality - it doesn't look like it's going to deteriorate any time soon.
The rack spaces are perfectly well placed - everything is easily reachable. It's nice to have some key gear right in front of you - preamp channels, rack distortion units and other tracking gear for recording - I'm appreciating that. You'll potentially need to make sure you have extra cage nuts and bolts if you're filling it with single space units.
The master keyboard stand accommodates my Nord Stage EX easily and feels nice and secure - the stand rests directly on the floor. It slides in and out reasonably well.
The rear shelf is a reasonable height. My workstation monitor speakers are at a good height for working on this shelf.
My only small concern about the unit (and this is slightly inevitable) is that the main desk is slightly high when you adjust your chair to fit your legs under the keyboard stand. The keyboard space / height obviously means that it is a compromise; (and quite a good one), but nothing is perfect. This also means that your computer monitor is slightly high and results in you looking up at the monitor, which can leave you in a slightly hunched posture if you're not careful. (I'm using a large Apple Cinema Display, which is quite tall as well as wide.) I do need to continue to adjust my working positions, but that is really just fine tuning. You need to get up and move around a bit anyway, to avoid muscle aches or neck ache. This is reasonably true, no matter what your workstation set up is like. It doesn't trouble me too much.
Overall, I'm quite impressed and pleased. It helps me get useful gear in one place for DAW work. I can recommend it - if it suits your space and your need, then go for it.
