After a while of having to choose between playing unplugged or being beat up in the stairs by some upset neighbour I realised that I needed a practice amp at home. I did some research by reading up, watched the YouTube videos and tried a couple out. The Yamaha was the best by far to my ears. Not only does it sound immensely bigger than it actually is, it also looks great and fits in at home like fancy decorative element from the high street.
Besides the perks of having a great looking and great sounding tiny amp at home, it also works as a recording tool for your computer so that you can easily pin down those riff ideas and nice licks you just came up with.
The quality is top notch, like usually with Yamaha. This smaller THR5 version misses a couple of amp selections, only has a one knob EQ and doesn't have a data band for storing sounds that you want to keep. If this bothers you I would recommend that you check out one of the THR10 versions. For me, the THR5 is just perfect and being an Orange user with my "real" amps I really appreciate the simplicity and easy usability. Highly recommended little amp!
