Incredible value!

Bought it to try the Slate virtual mic system without shelving out the money for the ML-1 in case I didn't like it. But it turns out I love it! The mic itself is built with good quality and feel. The software for the emulations are easy to follow, although I'd wish that iLok cloud would be available for the included software and not only for the complete plug-in subscription , even if that is a super deal in itself. The different modelings work differently well depending on what you record but so would real microphones...I expected the modelings to work like EQ's - and I guess they are - but the ad a layer that is more than an EQ. It ads character to the recording.. Character that an EQ cannot so there to me there's an incredible value to this product considering the price. Now I'm saving up for the ML-1.

This microphone really nails the emulations beyond any need. I've sold almost all my small cap dynamic och condenser microphones as a result of this product.

I love how this mic sounds, even without the different mic models applied to it. I recorded some acoustic guitars with it and it just sounds great. I also use it in a live situation, both for Overheads and for Hi Hat and Ride mic (in dynamic mode) and it is awesome there too, the rejection around the mic makes it a great choice both for studio and for live situations.

But, as you probably have read in places online, they (Slate) have had some problems in the production line with this mic, and mine was no different. When I first received the mic it didn't work as it should and had some weird spikes in the signal. Slate however were amazing and straight away sent me a new one. However, that one didn't work either, but after consulting with Slate I had Thomann send me a new one.

I'd say most definitely buy this mic, it is really really good, but do also expect that you might have to send it backa couple of times before you have one that works.
