I ordered the KMA because I was looking for something to replace my Yamaha PSR-S 910 because the yammie was heavy to take to gigs. I play in a duo and we don't have a car so for small local pub gigs we like to walk to the place with our gear in shopping trolleys. The Korg was the right weight - but would it do the job re sound I wondered. Well, the answer is yes, yes, yes - it's a marvel!
It is better than the 910 because although the 910 has some lovely sounds, the Korg has more of them! The Korg is easier to play because the tempo can be adjusted with a wheel and the sound balance between melody and backing can be adjusted with a slider (unlike the 910).
People comment on the Korg's small keys and I have to agree that they are easy to play. Even my husband, who has large hands says that, after a couple of minutes adjustment, he found them easy to play, too.
To get the best out of the sound, you need to hook up the Korg to external speakers of some kind although the internal ones are OK for doodling about with a song in a room. Once hooked up to anything external, the sound is stunning.
I have had the Korg for only a few days, but can't stop playing it. It's great for composing too - the styles are so varied and many are quite inspirational. The 910 will now go to Ebay.
Thank you, Korg and Thomann, who provide wonderful service with every purchase I make.
I bought the Korg Micro Arranger as I wanted a small, portable keyboard that I could easily carry around and play with it sitting on my knee on the sofa. It fits the bill perfectly for this. The keys are not full size, but are enough to bash out a melody. I would not use this for serious piano playing though.
The sounds are similar to the Korg Triton and are not as up to date as the micro station, but some of the sounds (especially the flutes) I find more pleasing than the MicroStation.
The Micro Arranger scores points by having built in speakers and auto accompaniment. There is also a full 16 track sequencer on board. Another good thing is that you can easily make up your own auto accompaniment . A style consists of a melody made up of 1 drum track, 1 percussion track, 1 bass track, and 5 melody tracks. You can record styles in any key you want and then play them back in any desired key on the fly by playing chords on the lower part of the keyboard. In this way you can put together original accompaniment patterns very easily and quickly and jam along to them in a very satisfying manner.
It is one of the most immediate keyboards I own, and is a lot of fun. I really do recommend it.
