Haun OSS Jecklin Disk, sound-absorbing disk placed between two microphones to create an acoustic shadow between two omni-directional microphones in OSS Technique (Optimum Stereo Signal), original size (30 cm diameter, 16,5 cm distance), especially used for symphonic orchestras, choir, brass-bands and chamber music
It's worth learning a bit about the Jecklin Disk and how and where to use it, but in the right application it works very well. One word of warning - the mic stand mount is designed to be moved around the disk but is VERY tight and difficult or impossible to remove without a locking wrench, which might scrape some paint off the mount. That doesn't matter very much unless you are planning to return the disk!
Works brilliantly with a pair of matched omnis. Really solid build quality and creates a fantastic stereo image. I live using it creatively with quite close miking as well as the conventional approach.
The supplied mic clips are strangely small for many microphones making me unconfident in putting expensive microphones in them. But who doesn't have mic clips locking around that can be screwed on.
The little cord with a bead on each end provides a neat way of ensuring precise symmetrical positioning of the the pair of microphones on each side of the disk.
Highly recommended. Robust and does what is expected of a Jecklin disk.
