The single coil mode is the EMG JCS pickup, which was built with ceramic magnets and pole pieces of steel for a rich, warm tone
The humbucker mode is the popular EMG CS (ceramic steel) humbucker, for a big, aggressive sound with a pronounced mid-range
When using two TW pickups in the same instrument, it is not recommended to use EMG BT or EMG BQ systems

Bytte ut original mickarna i min Gibson Nilli Sixx Tribute Thunderbird 2011 mot dessa. Resultatet blev ett väldigt mycket mer flexibelt instrument. Mer ljudvariation men framför allt ett klarare ljud.
Kablaget är dock tjockare än original så lite borrand och filande krävs, framför allt för att få kontakterna in till kontrollerna. Fick även fräsa ur lite vid mikrofonerna så att de gick ner helt i hålen.
Utrymmet vid kontrollerna är begränsat men allt får plats med nös och näppe. Täckplattan kommer inte helt ner mot kroppen då volymkontrollerna är ca 1mm för långa, går säkert att fräsa är lite i plattan.
Över lag väldigt nöjd, blev ett helt nytt instrument.

Finally my Gibson T-Bird sounds good.

The Gibson Thunderbird is the most comfortable bass guitar in the world for me.

But the sound... oh my god. Its old. I know there is a "vintage revival" going around - but man, teh T-Bird with it's stock Gibson pickups sounds old - with almost every other bass out there the fight for you to be heared in the mix it is a lot easier.

And low and behold - here comes EMG with pickups that fit in the T-Bird.
Finally - we'be got more than the TB HZ pickups.

My Gibson sounds modern. Sounds great - lots of tonal options with the push-pull setting. Especially with a EMG BTC system added. (it juuust fits into the bass - but the electronics cover you have to raise above the indent - ala Spector style - where the cover is not in line with the back of the guitar but kind of sits on it).

There is nothing new to be told about the EMG TB TW... it is a TW pickup that fits into the TBird.

Thomann .... please get the other T-Bird pickups from EMG ... DC, CS, P ...

Purchased it for my custom made Thunderbird copy with 36 inches scale length and it sounds amazing!
I'm using this pickup in the neck position. It sounds fantastic in both modes, very punchy and thick.
The wiring kit is super simple. Love EMGs for this invention.
Overall, this is the best pickups for Thunderbird basses!
