Excellent heavy picks with incredible grip and a bright attack

Being the direct source of force on the string, pick shape and material have a significant impact on the tone produced - much like playing with your fingertips or fingernails has. There is also ease of playing to consider. So I went and tried out a lot of different picks from a lot of makers small and large.

I found only four objective criteria of quality to judge picks since tone is subjective, so they relate to ease of playing. These are volume, grip, durability, and "glide", that is, how much resistance do you feel when the pick moves from one string to the next.

The tone they produce is much louder than most standard nylon picks and a bit louder than the average boutique pick. I only got them two weeks ago, so I can't personally comment on durability, but a glance around the web shows people also buy them for this reason.

These picks are the grippiest I own. They grip better than picks dressed in rubber. I have a 6mm monstrosity and these still feel more stable. It's amazing.

I own one pick made with a glass fiber and polymer composite that glides better than these, but they are better than most of the others I have and as good as the rest.

Timbre-wise they have pronounced upper mids, less treble than nylon picks, but more high end than some other materials. They sound very "full" to my ears. A good tone to have at your disposal, especially considering how great they feel to use.

At this price, everyone should try some variety of a Flow pick.

Different, interesting, definitely worth checking out.

My first time trying bigger and/or thicker plectrums, tried it with both acoustic and electric guitars. Took some getting used to, felt imprecise at first but I quickly got used to where the tip stands in relation to where I grip, once that was done I've found I play less percussively with these picks, the thickness means you become more careful about digging too much of the pick under the string resulting in a smoother picking style, the beveled edge helps it slide over the strings easier too and the sharp point compensates that slide by giving enough "pluck", much like the tip on a Jazz 3. I was/am a bit worried that if the sharp point gets worn away I'll have to pick harder which just won't work with these 'cause of the thickness but I've been jamming out for weeks now on my steel string acoustic and my electric with 12-60's on in C and it's holding up just fine which has impressed me thus far. Overall I'm chuffed with these, I'll probably deviate between these and the Flow Standard 2.00's but I'd say get a pack of three to try them out for yourself.

The best pick I've ever tried. I've spend hundreds of euros on picks trying to find the best one. So far this is it.

They’re a bit pricey for ultex and don’t last much longer than a week, but still excellent. If you speed bevel them for right or left handed then it both opens up the sound and makes them 50% more effective.
