TL, DR;
Buy it for your long-scale basses when you need that extra step down from a B-string.
I play bass in a tech-death band adnd have been experimenting with different setups on my basses. Due to an error on my part I did not check that the string length and bass scale length matched. That said, when I finally managed to install the string, I was surprised to see that it worked, even though it technically shouldn't have. The winding is a bit too close to the bridge to be perfect. I've had it installed on my bass for months and it hasn't dulled in sound, yet.
Installing the string was rather difficult. Had to drill the bridge. Worth it.
I really like the sound and feel of the string when I play it and I personally think that it lifts our music even higher. That said, consider this:
- I play with this string tuned to F#. You're going to need a good amp and/or a good cabinet to get those frequencies to really shine.
- I play with heavily overdriven / distorted effects in my band, but this string sounds really good as-is, without effects, as well.
