When you talk about the classic fuzz, you probably mean the sound of the legendary fuzzface in most cases. Used with a clean amp, this pedal produces a quite nice distortion (due to the germanium transistors it is never as annoying as various other distortion pedals). However using it with a already distorted sound, it really shines like the sun. This is the sound you know and love from Jimi Hendrix, the early David Gilmour and Eric Johnson.

The Fulltone 69 Mk II delivers exactly this sound with Fulltone-typical quality and reliability. There are also extras such as the input knob (e.g. prevents the pedal from gain pumping because of too powerful pickup signals) and a bias trimmer, influencing the sound, which are welcome features.

Great overall pedal but hmmmm...

I'll start out saying that the fulltone 69 is a great pedal, very well built and extremely versatile.
It can go from a fuzzy distortion to a bee hive quasi-gated fuzz through the internal bias. Rolling off the volume on the guitar helps the pedal sing. The input is a great tool for adjusting the amount of hotness you desire out of it.
The real issue I have with it is the dull eq of it. The contour knob does quite a bit but it's not enough to real make it stand out of its muddiness. Other Fuzz Faces I've tried have always been crisp, even germanium ones, resembling the classic bluesy, hendrix tones. It does however stack really great. I'll keep it but only because of its gated properties. For those looking for a more classic hendrix tone, there are far better FFs out there.

Fantastic from overdriven to angry fuzz in the late 60's style.
Dial up the internal knob to make her sound angry. Or play this fuzzbox sweet and gentle. it is all there . I love thee way I can stack her with a full tone overdrive, harmonics keep flying around the stage.
thee guys at Fulltone did a great job. No useless complicated gadgets on board. What you see is what you hear!

Classic Fuzz

Lovey fuzz pedal. Classic 60s/70s sounds and a lot of knobs to twiddle with to nail that desired tone. Sounds nice on it own but really shines with threw a boosted or dirty amp( i used an full tone OCD before it). Responds great to volume controls.
Pros.
Solid construction,lots of variables to tweek. Great tone.
Cons.
Only real con to this is the reverse polarity so you can't use a standerd Dc adapter on it. But this is what gives its great tone so beggars cant be choosers

Over all a great pedal i would recommend it!

This is a fantastic fuzz. I have played and even built lots of different germanium pedals, fuzz faces and tonebenders - and this is the best germanium fuzz face I have tried. Beautiful singing lead tone through overdriven tube amp. Fulltone pedals are always excellent and this one really has that magic and the spirit of the sixties.
If you are looking for a germanium fuzz face clone, get this one !
