As I decided to buy a Squire Vintage Classic Vibe Stratocaster the sound was great. A pure singlecoil Strat sound. Feeling comfortable with Hard Rock and Heavy Metal the idea was born to have another bridge pickup. DiMarzio have the feature to sound very natural, to transport the original sound of the instrument without colouring the sound. DiMarzio Pickups have a very understandful and well described guidance of how to install. Compared to - for example - Seymour Duncans, which are uncomfortable to install as they have only some rubber to put on they have everything you need to locate them directly without losing its position. Once installed they have a great brilliant tone, making the stratocaster rock its way. You should be aware that the Super Distortion set is louder than the original and think about of how to combine them properly.

Got this thing put in my strat with a coil tap enabled. Really great for distorted and fuzzy sounds but also more clarity on the clean that I expected. All in all a good pickup!

Wenn ein Pickup aus einer kaum gespielten Gitarre das Lieblingsinstrument macht, muss man eigentlich nicht mehr viel erzählen.

In einer Custom Strat steckten abwechselnd die Fender 57/62 Pickups, die Fender Custom-Shop Fat 50 und aus lauter Verzweiflung sogar die standard Pickups aus einer Mexico Strat. Der Sound war aber nicht zufriedenstellend.

Dann kaufte ich den DIMARZIO DP 218 Super Distortion. Das ist ein Humbucker im Singel Coil Format. Ich wollte in die Custom Strat keine Holzausfräsung machen. Das Ergebnis ist einfach klasse. Die Strat ist jetzt zum Tier geworden.

Aktuell sind am Hals und in der Mitte die Fat 50 und am Steg der Super Distortion eingebaut. Eine tolle Kombination. Für bluesige Sounds sind Fat 50 klasse und für die harte Gangart ist der Super Distortion wie gemacht. Der doppelklingen Super Distortion im Singel Coil Format kann gut mit dem Original Humbucker mithalten, den ich in einer anderen Gitarre verbaut habe.

Klanglich ist der Pickup wie folgt: Bass ist eher zurückhaltend aber definiert, Mitten sind spitzenklasse und sehr ausgeprägt, Höhen sind stark aber nicht zu spitz ausgeprägt. Der Sound kann am ehesten mit offen und aggressiv beschrieben werden.
Für Iron Maiden Sounds erste Wahl.

Ich würde den Pickup jederzeit wieder kaufen.
