Red Velvet Single Coil

The DiMarzio Red Velvet sets out to expand the already very versatile sound variants of the Stratocaster with the punch and the singing of typical Telecaster pickups. This is achieved by a metal plate at the bottom of the pickup, which enhances the magnetic field and adds a lot to the typical telep sound. Greater attack provides the promised "punch", with custom coil-winding ensuring it sings. The Red Velvet is primarily suitable as a bridge pickup in combination with Blue Velvets, however, it will also work well in the neck and middle, where it can be combined with a bridge humbucker like the Air Classic.

This PuPs are awesome .
The red velvet is on my Fender Strat HighwayOne Usa in neck position.
In Combination with true velvet middle and virtual vintage blues bridge .
I play home on a Roland 60w with on Dyna Amp simulator and also on Tweed with some crunch with this pup red velvet neck position sound brilliant proper vintage .

I was pleasently surprised when I played it on Marshall JCM900 100w in Survival studios in London .
Sound like Popa Chubby's Fender strat also very Jimmi Hendrix/ie , J Fruschiante that kind of sound .

To get the sound I crank the Mid Eq all the way . Trebble like on 4/5 . Bass 3/4.

Very sweet sounding across the fretboard especially around the 12 fret area is beautiful and my fingers are always there .

And it does have some fullnes aswell it fills up the sound .
In combinatio with the mid pickup wich is th true velvet DiMarzio you get the 60 strat sound especially for clean played chords .
You can easily play Rock , PopRock , Blues , BluesRock , Jazz .
You can go to heavy sound with some good efect pedals for sure .

Having installed Toneshaper pots in my guitar I can play these Pups in series .
Thats another level they sound totaly vintage but Fat Strat .
Something like an old Gibson 335 with P90s.
And this red velvet pup is sweet as honey .

Dimarzio totally nailed it .
Another thing for dimarzio pups most of them are if not all weak magnetised so they don't pull giving you a bit more sustain and they need to be adjusted very close to the strings and they come to live .

Recomended cheers

Hot pickup with an alternative sound
Richard944 02.06.2013
I bought this pickup after listening to the soundclips on this site because I wanted a pickup to go in the middle of my strat that had plenty of output but offered a very different sound to the Seymour Duncan pickups I had already selected for the bridge and neck. It's got plenty of top end and quite a typical strat "quacky" sound to it.

Watch out when hooking it up because the polarity is the opposite of the Seymour Duncan pickups and there is no mention of this in the literature that comes with the pickup, initially I wired it the same as the Duncans and my output in positions two and four basically disappeared and went very thin due to the pickups being out of phase.
