This was, and is, my second electric guitar. I bought this after careful consideration as my budget was 250~ euros and I wanted a guitar than could last a long time.
There are three nice things about this guitar, which in my opinion rate it quite high against other budget guitars. Bear in mind that I'm a beginner level guitarist at best when you read this review.
The first thing is the quality of the set-up: the guitar arrived with a very low action and I didn't need to adjust the bridge or neck at all! I've been using the guitar for over a year now and haven't had any trouble with a warped neck or needing to adjust things because of the Finnish winter. The frets are level and polished, the neck is very smooth and the tuners have so far been better than could be expected for this price.
The pickups are fine for this price. There weren't that many Alnico V pickups in this price range. I find both the neck and middle single coils as well as the bridge humbucker usable. With a nice amp this guitar can do anything.
The thing I like the most about this guitar is the ergonomy: there's a really nice curve/contour in the body in the front that allows your picking hand to rest comfortably without the edges of the body pushing in to your arm or elbow. The guitar is nice to play in classical position and due to the polished neck and even frets and low action, the guitar is very comfortable to play.
My only big complaints about this guitar are the tone knob and the vibrato. The tone knob also acts as a push/pull coil-split. It feels a lot looser than the volume knob. I wish it was stiff. The vibrato works, but it makes changing strings and tuning a bit annoying. And it makes the guitar not hold a tune that well. But I actually knew this when I bought the guitar: there are no good vibratos available for under 300 euro guitars. I've disabled the vibrato on my guitar.
Yamaha has a pretty good reputation with all their price ranges in regards to quality (though not for bling or mojo ;) ). I must agree that the reputation is deserved.
Najlepsza gitara z dobrym wygl?dem i dobrym d?wi?kiem
Pokr?t?a i przyciski dzia?aj? idealnie.
