I bought this set as a replacement for a quartett from a Laney GH100L that had finally failed after years of use.
Before buying I read up about Tubes and also spoke to my amp tech and electrical engineer friends to get some sage advice. My original thoughts had been to buy a more expensive set of Power amp valves (NOS), thinking it would produce better tone, But from my Amp tech, Electrical Engineer friends and online research, it seems the tonal benefits would be almost invisible with a GH100L amp unless really pushing it. So I looked for TAD valves, as that is what comes as stock in my GH100L. OK so what can I say about the Tubes, well they seem as well constructed as any EL34 tube I have ever seen/used and the delivery from Thomann to the UK was perfect priced well and packaged well to avoid damage.
I have used them for 6 weeks now and the amp sounds exactly as it should, so in essence the tubes do exactly what they are supposed to, The original TAD valves in my laney, were in there for 6 years and never missed a beat, I am expecting the same again. I think if you are looking to replace a quad, there is absolutely no reason NOT to buy these TAD JJ EL34 matched quads, They do exactly what they are supposed to do!! And I saved a lot of cash in the process!! - Awesome!
These are great tubes for the price. Very warm sounding with enough brightness to keep most players happy. Im not one for spending a fortune on tubes as I don't believe there is that much of a difference so these are great and in my price range.
