Your first impression (if you are not familiar with Suhr Guitars) may be that you have been sent a fretless instrument due to the black sheer plastic fret protector which sits under the strings and runs the length of the neck. A very caring and nice idea too.
After hauling Les Pauls and heavier Strats around for years this guitar is as light as a feather weighing only 2.9 kilos and is beautifully balanced.. The Tremelo set up felt somewhat stiff with three springs but on removing the middle spring and re-tuning to pitch with a 9 to 42 string set plus lowering the action, the trem was stable and perfect .. up and down and absolutely no tuning problems whatsoever.Wow! Otherwise..like every Suhr, it is a thing of great beauty.. the cool headstock.. this one with the black satin finish showing the wood grain.. A beautiful piece of Africa and India in your hands!
The intonation is perfect and the super smooth 24 fret neck has no dead spots. I have set the action as low as possible and there is no choking whatsoever.
Extraordinarily resonant, sustaining and Tonally a very clear and clean sound. Similar to the usual 5 way Strat tones we are all accustomed to hearing but the usually harder sounding and possibly not used so much middle position is in this case surprisingly nice with the fourth position absolutely superb.Remember Dire Straits?!
Unlike the standard tone control found on most strats which very quickly dials the treble completely out, this tone control is exceptional in that it reduces very gradually, eventually leading you to George Benson land! The volume control complete with treble bleed is also superb in that reducing volume does not reduce treble.
Many guitar players will spend a lifetime in search of the right instrument.. The usual problems being great sound but guitar too heavy or super low action but neck too thick or whatever it may be.. frets, neck, pickups, body shape, unavailable in pink..etc..
For an individual sound along the lines of a lightweight customized hum free stratocaster capable of great hard rock tones with the added tonal possibilities to sound like a semi acoustic jazz guitar, the Suhr Modern Pro Satin is a sensational and versatile instrument. The Gotoh Tremelo bridge, as with all Gotoh parts, works perfectly and there are absolutely no tuning problems. The Suhr locking tuners are first class and are thankfully not too heavy which has often been the case with other guitars causing partial neck dive. Sincere thanks to John Suhr and his team for producing this amazing instrument and Musikhaus Thomann for their superb and always professional service. p.s. And .. I really must mention this to give due credit to the artist who created it.. The Suhr cardboard container for the guitars amazing Tatoolike Artwork!
Prawie ozdób wygl?da, matowy lakier, bez przepychu i okoliczno?ci - podobno! Naprawd? mocn? cz??ci? - nawet je?li lakier matowy bez pytania si? przyzwyczai?!
