I always wanted a guitar which combines the best aspects of telecaster and Les Paul. This guitar does exactly this. It has the shorter scale, mahogany body and neck, pau ferro fingerboard, and telecaster neck shape. The humbackers give a fuller sound than single coils but they are sparkly and bright, in contrast to most les pauls I played.
The main strength of this guitar is how perfectly it feels in my hands. It is light (far lighter than gibson les paul) but it feels just right. The neck is smooth and easy, probably the best neck I have ever tried, not too fat, not too slim. The frets are finished perfectly. While light, the guitar feels solid and reliable. The pickups are good (perhaps not mind blowing), with the right creamy yet sparkly sound.
On the negative side, the tuners feel a bit cheap. The guitars goes easily out of tune (and it was even worse before I changed the strings). I guess I will change the tuners in the near future. Also, the nut was not cut exactly as it should be; the guitar definitely needs a pro set up. When the guitar arrived it was playable but not perfect.
I have owned over 20 guitars over the years, including US made Fenders, Gibsons and G&Ls. I love telecasters but this guitar is amazingly comfortable. With appropriate set up, it is a killer. I am even considering to buy a second one as a spare...
