I am a fan of SSL but....

I have many SSL device in the 500 racks. We love the VHD PRE. Recently we decided to expand our pre channels with the new VHD+ and we give a try to this handy SixCH. The sound is amazing, we like it, but something in the components have changed. The quality of the switches dropped. They get blocked quite often in intermediate position that cause big pops in the output and mute the channel. The CMP-IN switch all the time is depressed! The same feeling with the new pre VHD+ compared to the old VHD. Very disappointed!!! We expect the SSL standard, but we didn't find it in this 2 VHD+ and the Six CH that we received. We gave 3 stars because the sound is good, but 2 stars to the quality. This is sad :(

ENTRY LEVEL TO SSL

Great preamp at this price range. The gain in the preamp is excellent. The high pass filter is handy. The eq is basic but it does sound great, it allows you to get a good shape on the source. The compressor is basic too, I wouldnt see myself using it unless I had a very dynamic source that needed a little compression. My only issue s the buttons are not of great quality. A lot of features in a preamp, it does have that SSL sound. I would buy another one.

Ein kleines Stück SSL Hardware...

Trotz meiner vielen (zu vielen) Plugins (durchaus sehr gute von UA) habe ich immer wieder mit Hardware geliebäugelt, ich mag es Knöpfe zu drehen...., hab auch deswegen die Softube Consolen in Verwendung; nun gut: immer wieder überlegte ich mir den SSL Six Mixer zu bestellen - und siehe da, auf einmal erschien der SSL CH im 500er Format!
Nicht lange überlegt und zum Testen bestellt: Getestet mit Mikros (AKG, Austrian Audio) und über den Hi-Z Eingang mit Akustikgitarre;
Verglichen habe ich a) direkt ins Apollo Twin X Interface b) Interface + SSL Preamp Plugin, den ich häufig bei Aufnahmen verwende und dann c) mit dem neuen SSL CH;
Mein Fazit: tolles günstiges Teil - kein Rauschen, klingt durchwegs angenehm, bei Verwendung des Kompressors und des 2-Band-EQ spürbare Verbesserung der Aufnahme (keine chirurgischen Eingriffe möglich, dafür auch nicht gemacht) auch im Vergleich mit dem Plugin ist er mein Testsieger!
Wenn man bei der Aufnahme schon fixe Entscheidungen trifft, erspart man sich viel Zeit beim Mixen. Ich kann dem Testbericht (bonedo) nur beipflichten! Bei diesem Preis kann man nichts falsch machen.
Außerdem: ein Stückchen von einem legendären SSL Pult zu haben - und wenn es nur ein 500er Format ist - das hat schon was! Werde mir noch einen zweiten bestellen, um damit den Stereomix zu "behübschen".

ACTUALIZACION!!! ME ARREPENTI Y LA VOLVI A COMPRAR HAHAHAHA

Es cierto señores, me arrepentí de devolverlo y lo volví a comprar y esta vez me llevé una mejor experiencia y me gustaría agregar algunos puntos que no logré ver la ultima vez.

Primero, al devolver el Six 500, compre un SSL611eq, el cual disfruto mucho, pero con el tiempo vendí mis interfaces y ahora poseo una quantum4848 que solo tiene entradas y salidas de linea lo cual me vi obligado a ver nuevamente por mas preamps.
Asi que luego de ver todas las opciones, decidí darle nuevamente una oportunidad a este SSL SIX500.
Le hice mucho más pruebas y la verdad es que lo que puedo decir es que es super util para grabar RAPIDO. Sus funciones de channel strip usándolas de modo moderado y mínimo solo para limpiar lo que sobra, esta muy bien.
Felizmente esta vez SSL se preocupo mas por el tema de la calidad y esta vez NO tuve ningún problema con botones bloqueados o ruido al presionarlos. Esta vez llego todo esta impecable.

Así que con esta nueva buena experiencia, compraré mas de estos módulos 500.
Por el precio creo que es lo mejor que puedes comprar en módulos serie 500.
Así que adelante, sirve para todo, no se arrepientan como yo.
(Ademas esta vez estuvo mas barato que cuando lo compré hahaha)
