Well I've been using this for a while now so am pretty well schooled in this EQ to give it a review.
I have used this on pretty much everything whilst mixing but have found it to be particularly good on Eclectic Guitars. A little boost on the 12Khz (say 1-3dB) add a great sound to a well recorded electric - really brings it out in the mix.
The Saturation knob is a very nice thing to have and as well as sounding great makes a extra useful tool combined with the great curves this EQ gives you.
A friend of mine owns an 'A-Range' style hardware piece (preamp and EQ) and although they don't null, I wouldn't expect them to as his is 'inspired by' the EQ, they sound is so similar it's almost impossible to tell them apart when boosting or cutting signals and no way of telling within the full mix.
Considering he has only got 1 of his, and I can use this EQ all over my mix as it uses hardly any CPU, and mine cost be less tan 1/10th of the single hardware unit I'd say just go for it!
