I used to play Vandoren T20 and 25 after using an optimum. This seems like a nicer sounding T20 with fat rails and tip, easy to play and slightly larger chamber than the V5 series. It is great for study and classical music (that I try to play!).
It is slightly shorter than a modern Soloist for some reason. I continue to play it with a Vandoren MO ligature and classic blue reeds 1.5 and 2. The manufacturing seems perfect. The box says its got a 1.94mm tip and average 24mm facing length, like a 5 in most rating systems. I've never liked S80 or 90 mouthpieces, this works for me.
It has a fat, round tone that's easily shaped and its getting better as time passes. I think this is great for people who want to move on from their first (probably plastic) mouthpiece. It also loses nothing to the otto Link dark sound with less air required. I get the feeling an advanced player would like a thinner tip rail and more projection but this would still be great to practise on. I blow into a Jupiter 789 tenor with it.
