This little thing is great. It has all the usual features from a 2 channel interface you'd expect. The preamps are fairly good, the design is tough and tidy. I have had this for a while now and its still In perfect condition. The great thing about these is they are ultra portable. the killer feature is the fact that its battery powered and works natively with the iPad. the iPad routes all of its audio through it so you can listen to music also. it can record multichannel + midi at the same time. In fact, I've done a lot of gigs using this too, it works as a preamp, but you can then plug it into your iPad, load amplitube and use all the effects on it. Because it has dedicated outputs, its better than the irig pro. This can be used instead of floor fx pedals and it works great.
I use this product in my home studio as the main audio interface.
Definitely positive about the unit is its sound - it is full, rounded, relatively neutral, albeit the sound is a bit velvety, or smoothened, which suits the style of music I am producing now well.
Compared to my previous unit - RME Babyface - the sound, however, lacks the RME's dynamics. Which is to be expected, given the totally different price league both units are in.
In any case, Roland UA-22 is still very much usable for dance production, and the bit of added dynamics compared to RME Babyface is something one can live with in this genre since it is not that obvious, especially for a layman listening to the final mastered track.
In other words, for about 1/6 of the price, you get an audio interface with a great sound, usable for producing most of the modern music genres, with excellent reviews, and also very stable and reliable (I am a Mac user).
As for other features besides sound, it is a bit bulkier than the RME, but still portable in a bigger laptop case.
I also like the fact it has its own battery power, which can be handy when playing in a lite gig (haven't tried them yet). I bought the dedicated power supply, the sound is best with it.
Fazit: Altogether, I find the unit very well made, very good sounding, and reliable. I give it 4 stars because the dynamics could be a little better, and also because they might have designed it a bit less bulky, I believe, as RME did with Babyface, for instance. Other than that, I totally recommend it.
