Having used quality 12" powered speakers for my top boxes for many years of live gigging, I decided that as I was aging and gear specs were improving I should try something smaller and lighter. Having used and enjoyed a pair of Mackie 12"s with RCF speakers on board and after reviewing all the currently available powered speakers I plumped for a pair o RCF HD-10As which didn't disappoint.
The enclosure is pleasingly compact and much easier to handle than anything I have ever owned in my too many years in the business. The sound is right on the ball and way loud enough for any venue I currently play which can be up to 250 boistrous holiday makers downing their cocktails, pints and shots after a day on the beach. I anticipated there might be a lack of bass end but found that with the bass boost in I had to roll off a bit on the mixer EQ. Most venues don't need any boost at all. Additionally I bought a pair of RCF covers which can actually be unzipped and left on the speaker while in use which protects the unit and save me a bit more in set up and strip down time. This mounts up when you are doing it 5 or 6 times a week 50 weeks of the year. I do rock, pop and soul covers with guitar vocals and tracks all through these speakers and they hangle everything well.
