My son is still in education so we still "help out" with some of his basic needs for his musical interests. I am a musician myself so I always try to support him in this area.
We bought our son this cable because he already has one exactly the same and he likes it a lot. He had read the reviews online before purchasing his first Planet Waves cable and he wasn't disappointed, once he got to try it out.
My son is a tone hound, and way ahead of me. He's built his own T-style guitar (with Lollar pickups), a pedal, and repaired a microphone, not to mention that he has a collection of boutique pedals, funded by his gig earnings and his part-time guitar teaching. He's incredibly fastidious about what equipment he buys and he will not settle for inferior gear: if he buys a cable, it has to be what he considers to be the best he can afford (whoever is paying).
When he bought his first Planet Waves cable, I let him use it for a while before asking him what he thought about it; his single-worded reply was "Exceptional".
I would buy this cable if I were playing at a good level, or recording guitar. I wouldn't recommend it for players just starting out, I would suggest something cheaper instead; but if you are a player who's careful with his tone, or looking for a step-up in the cable department, then buy it.
When my keyboard was being set up through a PA the engineer was puzzled as to why one channel was so much stronger than the other. The reason? I was using a standard jack lead in one output and the Planet Waves lead in the other. So clearly superior sound!
